in about 2-3 weeks we will be getting a PPD of about 1.6 million. I have a Radeon VII card on the way.

got a different case that I could install 3 X 360mm Radiators in.
Unless you install an industrial-sized extractor fan to blow air into the case you'll end up with negative case pressure, and a mountain of dust :)

catweazel,

that looks like the type of fan setup that they have on our underground rail system to keep the air fresh. I want to see how battlenut goes about this built. Great interest.

battlenut,

that is a very impressive collection of hardware you have.

I noticed that we have a team SnakesOnAComplexPlane catching us at 52,691,991 points a day. You can only wonder what hardware they have?, I can only dream on.

Best regards Keith
This team has stooped producing big numbers and are not on our six anymore. Maybe taking a break or the mining may be turning around or the power company shut them down.

I do not care where or why, but it was a bit alarming seeing how quickly they closed up on us. Nothing personal but I am glad they are gone.

Yesterday I had a work unit that after every 1% completed it put something along the lines of "numbers do not match". I thought that it would be a waste of time completing it so I stopped the unit. Purged folding from the computer and downloaded the 2 files again from Stanford. Try as I might I could not get a work unit for the GPU. I left the computer off overnight and had another go this morning·

Still no GPU unit. I checked all of the files involved and found that I did NOT have the GPUs.txt file which is needed to enable the GPU to fold. I thought that it would have been automatically downloaded from Stanford, but it was not. I found my backup file and copied over to /var/lib/fahclient.Found a GPU unit and off we went again.

When I was fitting the new water cooler I noticed that the front 200 mm fan was not working. I searched the web for a replacement and found out that Corsair did not make one. I searched the web and finally found this one https://www.overclockers.co.uk/bitfenix ... 19-bx.html. This was the only 20 mm thick fan that I could find.

I’ve had to download the GPUs.text list before.

Stanford released the fah-core 22 a day or so ago and had trouble with it immediately and ended up pulling it back. Wasn’t ready for prime time. You may have gotten one of them. Projects are 17xxx I think.

Good luck finishing your rig, btw have you received the new Radeon VII yet?

:o :o Wow..what model of 980 was that? I run an EVGA GeForce GTX980 reference model. I pulled it out a year ago to open up, clean, and apply Arctic Silver to it. At that time, I observed that all the little heat dissipating pads for numerous other components on the board were crap. Some appeared to be haphazardly placed (like only covering half of a component). Some appeared to have oozed an oil out of them, so not sure what they were actually made of. Probably will be doing this again before the heat of summer, and now have FujuPoly thermal pads to replace all of those.

@powerwagon

It was an ASUS direct cu II version. yeah all the pads leave an oil type residue behind. but oh well I guess. we will keep going strong. we will get new cards in soon.

that is appalling bad luck and expensive with it, you have my sympathy for what its worth.

I hope your new card arrives soon and all goes well.

That is a bad break. Can you RMA either of these cards?

Don’t stress it, we will make our goal!
