Thx Greerd,

I already copied that file to a backup folder. I think I can run F@H then also without a working fahcontrol, and do the rest via the web interface.

But I hope they have a new version when Mint 20 is out.

cheers,
Bernd

I wonder if it'a possible to have a USB-attached GPU purely for folding? Wouldn't be any good for gaming I know but I don't need to; wouldn't need a head at all really. It would likely need a separate power supply but that shouldn't be an issue. Off to do some research ...

Don’t know if anyone uses this app on IOS but its a great way of keeping an eye on your folding box. Unfortunately not available for Android.

Ok got my R5 2600 AF in the mix. Cant get GPU working for some reason though. It has been a while.

CPU core 0xa7 showing about 87kppd for 6/12 cpu probably 75k on the low end for harder WU's.

Have you changed gpu=true in advanced settings and restarted client. Then you can add a gpu slot.

Must not be just me that's getting crappy numbers. Since they changed the points, we're fallen 4 spots to #93!

although our numbers have fallen recently, that is not the reason for the drop in places, as every other team above us would probably have suffered the same way. If you look at the teams that are behind us and catching us fast, you can see that the team below us is putting in an extra 150,000,000 points a day more than us, which is massively more than our daily total. The two teams that have recently passed us were putting in over 450,000,000 points a day more than us. They are huge numbers that we simply can not match.

Like out own team that now has more members than ever, other teams that were probably doing other work have switched to Folding at Home now that they are doing Covid 19 units. Hopefully things will settle down and we will continue to climb, but the higher we go the harder it gets.

STAY SAFE

Best regards Keith

Also the number of teams that are starting up due to COVID is unbelievable. I think folding@home is now in excess of 2.4 Exaflop. This is greater than the top 600 supercomputers combined.

Since I've started a few weeks ago the team has fallen four positions and it would not surprise me if we fell more. The amount of computing power that has come onboard to FAH is staggering. Just look at what Nvidia themselves are contributing with relatively few clients, they are number five in the 24 average. But I have some early suspicions from following certain news stories that this all may quietly change in a few months time.

I have a question, what is this GPU false/true thing? My GPU is folding but I have noticed that I frequently have to give it a kick in the ass to get working again. I know that the check in timer is progressively longer but it seems like there is something more going on. I didn't want to mess with this setting because I am not exactly sure of what it is doing. I took a screen shot.

An update to my earlier post. Since I rebuilt my system awhile back, I never did reinstall my passkey. Since it says right on the passkey tab that "...a passkey is also required to earn bonus points", this probably explains my crappy point totals.

Guess I'll find out in about 7 hours...

UPDATE: wow - what a difference! Numbers are back to what they were before (around 200k/day).

Hi 900i,

thanks for the update news. Do we just download and install the new versions, or do we have to delete our current programs first.

Best regards Keith
