last i knw enigmail still wasn't working with T-Bird: communication error w/ Gnu-PG client

if they used GPGME instead of OpenPG they'd probably do better.

I've been playing with alternatives; Evolution seems good although I think I actually prefer the CLAWS approach

I think CLAWS is, simply put: better software.

I had to change 1 line in the .gnupg/gpg-agent.conf to

Code: Select all

pinentry-program /usr/bin/pinentry-gnome3
It was pinentry-gtk3
Now it works as it used to do
Btw, my system is Linux Mint MATE 18.2 x64

thanks

i used to follow the enigmail newsletter; they fussed a lot with this pinentry program.

i'm not convinced that writing in pseudo code and trying to get a program to run cross platform is really the best idea. the new F-Fox seems to run good though :)

A combo of thunderbird and web mail for me.

Some days though I have nostalgia for some of the long gone e-mail clients I used to use like Eudora and Pegasus mail.

I have been using Evolution for a couple years now. I just liked it better than Thunderbird. Probably because of Evolution's similarity to Office Mail.

Protonmail; it was great to not feel Gmail breathing down my neck anymore. Private, simple to use, and am very happy with it. :)

For the past four years, I am using Thunderbird. It's very easy and convenient for me.

I use Thunderbird on Linux
K-9 on Android

I am surprised that nobody mentioned Evolution e-mail client.

Last I saw was Evolution only had a mailing list. No forum. To me thats a turn off.

I especially like Yandex, since I found out that Google considers forwarding my Gmail to Yandex is a "Security Risk" and won't allow it.
I tend to use a Gmail (that I got years ago before I knew better) for anything that might be official, or ever involve lawyers...you know what I mean.
I'm using Gmail here, actually - not sure why - I probably was on auto-pilot.
I have a couple of other accounts that have their own set of purposes, but I use Vladimir whenever possible.

Otherwise. I collect everything up with Thunderbird, which does have faults.
But it's truly the best. Right now anyway.

I've been running Thunderbird for so long, I forget there is anything else.

I found this email company, mail.com that lets me choose a suffix from a large list, like XXX@bikerider.com, or other choices, it is also very secure. I use the free version.

+1.

I've been transferring important stuff from the free online mail services to the one provided by my domain name provider. Whilst not free, it hardly breaks the bank at £6 per year for 5 mailboxes and as many redirects as you're likely to need. This is accessed using Kmail and the mails are left on the servers so that they can be accessed anywhere as well as offline .. best of both worlds.
