Some amazing musical artists I came across in the last 24 hours
The first artist is Gabriella Quevedo, who plays finger-style (finger-picked) guitar. Most of what she does is not the sort of thing most finger-style players would choose to play. Like Pink Floyd, Beatles, Ray Charles, Louis Armstrong, Sting, Linkin Park, and Kiss. And she does it very well. She is only 20 years old, and didn't start playing until she was 12. How did she learn to play like that? Here's her Youtube page:

I just went to her videos page, and clicked the PLAY ALL link to hear her full 180 song playlist. And there is probably only one thing that could make me take a break from her, and that is The Analogues. They are a Dutch Beatles tribute band. Ordinarily, I don't care for tribute bands, and perhaps especially Beatles tribute bands. Nobody does it like the Beatles. Nobody. But these guys decided to do live performances of the material that the Beatles recorded after they stopped touring, and do it as close to the albums as possible. They bought instruments and equipment like the Beatles used to make the music in the studio. Can you imagine seeing the Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album performed live? Here it is:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0kj1jJrbTQU
They have performed some other Beatles stuff live, and apparently have plans to eventually do live concerts (and recordings) of 5 more Beatles albums.

What I find almost as amazing as the performance was how the audience sat quiet and let the final chord in "A Day in the Life" fade. I suspect the audience was coached before the performance. I would like to think everyone was sitting in silence, with one half their brain enjoying as THE E-major chord echoed through the performance hall and and the other half thinking about what they would do to the first person to break the chord.jimallyn wrote:Can you imagine seeing the Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album performed live?

Went to your first link, jimallyn. She's holding her thumb and forefinger together. Are you sure she's not using a pick? Not that it matters, she sounds good. Her guitar looks very high quality. (Taylor guitars usually are.)

Gabriella is also very easy on the eyes I've been following her music for awhile not

Thanks for the heads-up. Always love good guitar music. She's a gem. I thought for a second it was the same Gabriella as one half of Rodrigo y Gabriella but then I see this one is Swedish.

Yeah, she is another good one. I've been watching her for I think a couple of years now. Pretty amazing.trytip wrote:Dragon Force - Through the Fire and Flames - Tina S Cover

Hmmm, I have to wonder which video you watched? Clearly no pick in this one:Schultz wrote:Are you sure she's not using a pick?

She starts this one strumming with her thumb and finger together, but if you watch the rest of it, you can clearly see that she is not using a pick:

No pick here:

Again, she starts this one strumming with her thumb and finger together, but if you watch until 1:06, you can see that there's no pick.

I think she does use a thumb pick sometimes, and possibly finger picks, but certainly no flat pick anywhere that I can see. I tried using finger and thumb picks once upon a time, but they kept getting caught up in the strings. I do OK with just my fingers, or with a flat pick, but the finger picks never worked for me.

And how! Often during a song, and at the end of most songs, she will look up at the camera and smile. Wow! And somebody comments on her beauty on just about every Youtube video.Pepi wrote:Gabriella is also very easy on the eyes

Somebody else mentioned them to me today. They are on my list of music to listen to next, when I'm done with this Gabriella. But sometimes I have 50 or 60 tabs open in the browser to things I want to listen to "next." There is an awful lot of good music out there.smurphos wrote:I thought for a second it was the same Gabriella as one half of Rodrigo y Gabriella
