Firefox 57 just not good enough (impressions)

Post by richlion2 »

Hello,

does anyone have a feeling the newest FF version is just not working in too many cases? Half of Youtube videos cannot be viewed without this message "there is a problem with HTML5" content. The same exact URL's work in Chrome.

Mozillla has screwed up and all the solutions you will see is : reinstall FF, recreate profile, change about:config settings.

I've given up on it and switched it out for Waterfox. Much happier now.

I forgot about Firefox Quantum and swithed to Palemoon. Comparing to Palemoon, Firefox is bad joke.

Oh, it runs fine here, too. I just don't like it.
It's so rigid. I like my browsers more customizable.

I too like a customized browser and since FF57 runs just fine for me, I don't mind investing a bit of effort getting some things the way I want them :)

For those who like tinkering, there are quite a few userChrome.css customizations available. One can also have a separate gtk3 theme just for Firefox if one wants certain appearance changes to Firefox but not to other gtk3 applications like this GTK_THEME=Adwaita firefox when all other applications use, say, Arc.

Of course, there are some things that have gone away, never to return to Firefox. If one is totally dependent on such extensions, then the forks are there.

FF57 worked fine for me when I first installed it, but it seems the longer I run it, the more problems I have with it. Currently using Brave. Not that Brave is my favorite browser, but I already had it installed when I got fed up with FF57. I suspect they will fix all the problems and I will probably go back to FF at that time.

Put me in the crowd of having no problems with FF 57 running on three different systems (mint, solus and windows 7.) I'm loving the new version overall.

Firefox 57 is great. No problems, youtube plays fine, pages load much faster, less memory use than previous FFs.

That's my experience too.
