I just now, finished up some work on my big Win7 desktop and had been perusing this forum from that location in my office.
when I got through with Firefox, my fingers just toggled Control-Q and Firefox totally ignored me
what has this world come too?

Under Windows the terminal window is called "Command Prompt".
The people of Alderaan have been bravely fighting back the clone warriors sent out by the unscrupulous Sith Lord Palpatine for 771 days now.

Or PowerShell. I just installed Mint 18.1 MATE as dual-boot with Windows 10 on a Dell 990 refurb (Core i7, 8GB RAM, 2TB HDD), so I tried to check my C:\ properties to see if it was GPT or MBR. (BIOS said UEFI was disabled, but this is my first Win10 machine.) Right-click on C:\ showed nothing useful, so I had to use a terminal command to find out--but stared at the Start Menu items for half a minute wondering where Command Prompt went!

I've enjoyed all the replies
WindowsKey-R then type ' CMD ' was my friend for many years in the Windows OS
just last night, my daughter asked me to fix her new Win10 Numlock to "always ON"
so, I had to do this:
Press Win + R and type in Regedit.
Navigate to registry key HKEY_USERS\Default\Control Panel\Keyboard.
Right-click on the “InitialKeyboardIndicators”, select Modify and change Value data to 2.
Exit Registry.

Haven't touched the registry in, now let me think about it.......2 days! That's how long since I ditched Windows for (hopefully) the last time.
