Hello All! Hope you can help.
When I ditched Windows (Hallelujah!) I saved all my Epub books on a hard drive. I now have them on my Linux Mint 18.1 Serena using Calibre. I now want to buy a reader which I can use in bed or when out and about. I don't want an app - I actually want a reader but what I don't want is anything from Amazon! Do you have any suggestions as to which Ebook reader will sync with Linux Mint?
I still have my old Blackberry Playbook and have tried connecting it after reading dozens of web pages but it is a no go. That said, the Playbook is a bit heavy and very dated.
Any advice or tips more than welcome.
Thank You

Kobo readers are good, I have a Touch, about 6 years old, still works great. Sync with Calibre Linux is not a problem.

I manage my eBooks with Calibre under Mac OSX (old habit...) - meaningful titles, authors sorted by first name and surname, unique linguistic designation (eg - Russian names such as: Tolstoy, Dostoyevsky, Gorbachev...)
- under Linux Mint I read my eBooks with FB-Reader...
- under Windows with Sumatra PDF... (no bad surprises)
- under Android (Smartphone) with Lithium... (no advertising)
...I can't manage my eBooks on Linux - too small screen for Calibre...

+1 for Kobo Touch (there are 4 in this household). The illuminated screen comes in handy for reading in low light and it is light enough to hold in one hand and turn the pages with a touch of your thumb. Works well with Calibre.
I recommend getting a sleeve for it to protect the device if you drop it going to sleep, although they are easy to repair.

I have several kobo 64GB ARCs -they work fine with Mint but what I prefer is my Samsung Tab 8. I use Moon+ Reader Pro e-reader app. It's the best. No worries. I have downloaded over 1100 books.
I use a 64GB microSD card with Samsung. Has been working for the last 2 yrs or more. Works with Calibre too.

Just wanted to say a sincere thanks to you all for the help and tips. I now have a Kobo and I can even use my Playbook with network Wi-Fi.
I would have replied sooner but I've been unwell.
Thank You.
