X-Ray Spex - Live at The Roxy
X-Ray Spex - Obsessed With You - The Early Years
The Damned - Peel Sessions, 1976-79

Not everybody's cup of tea but I've been listening to Punk now since the late 70's (not non-stop, obviously...)

Anyone else here into similar?

Cheers, DM.

Yep, I got it :!: Good choices.

I love the shambolic nature of the Roxy recordings, particularly the Buzzcocks set.

Still go to the odd gig, next one is Rubella Ballet who I love, although I'm not fussed about their recent material.

Will check out Six Minute War later - cheers.

Yeah, like most punk bands, they always sound like they are still practising !

All the Live at the Roxy stuff is just pure raw stuff, and once I'd heard the original Live at the Roxy London WC2 album I became a total
convert to that type of sound.

Rubella Ballet sound like the Slits after a few drinks. ;-)

Time to dig out some old Chaos UK and Crass albums I think this weekend.

I like to have background music playing while I'm doing research for standup paddle boarding using Ekoru or Google.

Fleet Foxes - "Mykonos" (with lyrics).

Sounds good to me, Crass's Feeding, Stations and Envy do it for me. Chaos UK were local to me and I managed to see them in the '80's and in more recent years too.

Working on my four standup paddleboards in my garage because of being cooped up in the house by the COVID-19 situation in my country, I needed some background music while I worked on my boards.

INXS - "Devil Inside".

At night I listen to a mockingbird and a brown thrasher try to out sing each other. The mockingbird uses the huge black tupelo in my backyard as his territory perch - the tree is 50ft from my bedroom. The brown thrasher resides in a nearby Formosa azalea. These two birds compete all night long. Both have mastered the blue jay's "weedle-eedle" and "rusty pump" calls, and if I knew it was not in their nature I would be convinced these birds were singing a duet.

Here is the "rusty pump" call. Try imagine what it sounds like at 3am.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4oaaBt1 ... e=youtu.be

When I am not listening to the songbirds, I have a couple of playlists that have been in permanent rotation since Stay At Home.

I listen to the best “live” rock recordings in my collection when I am working indoors.

Little Feat, Waiting for Columbus
The Allman Brothers Band, At Fillmore East
The Band, Rock of Ages
The Who, Live at Leeds
The Who, Live at the Isle of Wight Festival 1970
Jimi Hendrix, Jimi Plays Monterey
Otis Redding, Historic Performances Recorded at the Monterey International Pop Festival

I have two playlists for when I am working indoors. The first is 9 Symphonien, with Herbert von Karajan conducting all nine Beethoven symphonies with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra.

The other is an album of some of my favorite short orchestral works: Grieg: Peer Gynt Suites, Holberg Suite / Sibelius: Finlandia, Valse Triste, also Karajan with the BPO.

Here is Finlandia. It is my most favorite patriotic tune, with Land of Hope and Glory and Stars and Stripes Forever coming in a very close second and third, and special consideration to Garryowen.

And always that damned mockingbird.

Last week I was thinking that there must be a few songs around about the famous virus. I came across this from Malaysia. It brought me a large smile :)

Good one lert!
I listen to the sounds of silence most days. NOT the song, (I do like it) but I just prefer silence.
