One of the best songs ever, in its best performance (although definitely not the best sound quality!):

I'm still listening to the incessant ring of tinnitus.

Enjoy.

I bumbled into this thread while listening to David Coverdale (Deep Purple / Whitesnake) singing Soldier of Fortune.
I enjoyed some of your choices & went back to find a link to post here of the above - I found this instead and the girl floored me.

For your tinnitus, maybe. The frequency of your tinnitus is, I belive, directly related to the frequency of sound you can no longer hear :)

I blame mine on being too close to test firings of 2000lb bombs and missile warheads.

Yeah! I know it's different for everyone. Mine can be traced back to about 1745 on June 8th 2001! Some idiot decided he wanted to park his F truck on top of us at 100kph. We were stationary at a Police Roadblock at the time......

That's better than being at the other end of those tests. Although, that would stop the ringing. :D

We used to rack the warheads up on a tower crane inside a concrete bunker with several feet of glass to view through. An engineer would pull a lever and the warhead would drop, exploding right in front of you, not six feet way. Ear protection in those days was for pansies :)

Nightwish. I am traditionally a metal guy, but the US metal scene has been plagued for years with terrible vocalists. Ran across this band about a year and half ago by accident. I was intrigued by their ability to incorporate a variety of styles into their music. Took me a while to get used to having classically trained female vocalists as opposed to men grunting and growling, but it is a welcome change of pace for me. The band is out of Finland. I think the US record labels must have a lock on the market or something. They are often referred to as a "symphonic metal" band. Whatever the case, I'm hooked.

Funny, I played in loud rock and roll bands for ~20 years, sometimes so loud it felt like it was going right through one ear and out the other, and still no tinninits.

Uh...what did you say...? :D

One thing I would suggest, create a partition as a 50G partition as /. Partition the rest as /Home. IF the system fails, reinstall and use the exact same username and all your 'stuff' comes back to you.

Ooh I just found Nightwish courtesy of this thread. Very nice - thanks. :)

This is a bit different but still lovely, I've been listening to this album a lot recently. The Unthanks - Black trade

Currently listening to a random playlist from my local files; a mix of Moody Blues, Deep Purple, Suzi Quatro, The Doors and Early Black Sabbath.

And... somehow a song from The Runaways crept into the list. Hmmm...

 yeah. Mine's compounded by a bird "cheeping" randomly every 10-120s

Thankfully, only in one ear. People think I'm odd when I always stick a finger in that ear whilst I'm talking to them.
