i found this quite by accident when looking up my own "handle" of my email addresses which does start with knightstmplr1@??????????.

there are 2 versions of it...im only supplying the link for the short version.

there is also an hour version i play as background when browsing the web...very nice and soothing...enjoy...DAMIEN

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cn1Wkb18E3A

EDIT...ok just re-thought this one...i may not be the only one that enjoys this as soothing background when i get up at 4:30 am to feed my 3 cats and have my coffee or tea and just start web browsing, so here is the hour long version for those of you who also may use ClipGrab to copy and paste the URL for downloading your favourite tunes from youtube...DAMIEN

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XlYsRxgWxNo

NEW EDIT...here is how to install ClipGrap for those of you do not already have a ready way to download from youtube...this is any easy to use GUI that just works...DAMIEN

Install Clip/Grab

Code: Select all

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:clipgrab-team/ppa

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get update

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install clipgrab

Been listening to a Gil Scott-Heron playlist on and off for a couple of days. Good stuff!

I have travelled 35629424162.9 miles in my lifetime

One thing I would suggest, create a partition a ~28G partition as /. Partition the rest as /Home.
When the system fails, reinstall and use the exact same username and all your 'stuff' comes back to you.

I like many musical instruments. One of my favorites is the old steel guitar. There was an instrumental song in 1959 which was a pop #1 song back then. It was named "Sleep Walk". When I'm working on any of my four computers (2 desktop towers, 2 laptops), I usually have this song playing in the background since I can loop it. Here is a cover song which show cases the lap steel guitar in this song.

Star Trek - First Contact. Main title theme. Composed and conducted by Jerry Goldsmith.

Spacewalk. Love theme from the movie Passengers starring Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt. Composed and conducted by Thomas Newman.

If you haven't heard compositions by Jerry Goldsmith, you are missing some of the finest music ever written. You can check Wikipedia for a full list of his accomplishments. He found a home, so to speak, with Star Trek. He composed the theme for Star Trek - The Motion Picture which was used on Star Trek - The Next Generation. He also composed the theme for Star Trek Voyager, arguably the best intro from any of the Star Trek television shows. He composed the themes for Patton, Capricorn One, and Total Recall (the one with Arnie, not that wussy 2012 remake), just to name a few. His music is exquisite.

Nope! Just doesn't appeal to this "ancient". See my post a few days ago and you'll get my preference :D Although, to be fair, I also like jazz.

Just found some mp3 files on an old HDD.

Enjoyed listening to The Strawbs - "Just a Collection of Antiques & Curios" and Patrick Moraz - "The Story of I". (First time in a loooong time!)
Obair là - tòiseachadh. A day's work - getting started.

I'm listening to Offspring. A bit of Californian punk for a more productive Thursday.

My niece, today a beautiful 20 years old, constantly asks me things about the 60s and 70s. Everything about Jimmies: Hendrix, Page, Morrison etc. pp
Driven by my niece, I have discovered Youtube as a source of my young people's wishes unfulfilled due to lack of money.

All 60-year-olds are allowed to laugh and my 80-year-old neighbour is certainly happy about my music system:

Stones: everything, anyway
Cream: everything
Doors: everything
Allman Brothers: everything
Yardbirds: everything
Deep Purple I, II, III & In Concerto... (actually not bad music at all...)
Black Sabbath (after all, the birth of the hard metallic...)
T.Rex (somehow really funny again...)

Other beautiful rediscoveries:

Gabor Szabo, all recordings
John Cage, all recordings
Brian Eno, all recordings

and - just beautiful and running right now - Anouar Brahem: Le Pas du Chat Noir...
Linux Mint 18.3 Sylvia (Mate) 32-bit - Acer D250 Netbook (Intel Atom N270, 2 GB RAM, 120 GB SSD)
Linux Mint 17.3 Rosa (Mate) 64-bit - MacBook Pro 15" (Intel Core2 Duo, 8 GB RAM, 240 GB SSD) - with some separation difficulties...

Been listening to a lot of remasters of old stuff that originally came out on LP. They ruined the CDs by just using the vinyl masters, which were tweaked for the foibles of phono reproduction. Now they've finally been fixed. The bass isn't all compressed and the treble isn't juiced up. Layla is a revelation and All Night Long sounds even better than the 12" single.

Today I'm listening to The Cure, starting with Three Imaginary Boys (and will probably stop at Disintegration). Yesterday it was a mix of Thrice, Rival Schools, The Fall, Beastie Boys, random house music, and Little Richard.
