if you haven't checked these works of art out (story telling, composition), explore. netflix is catching on, Violet Evergarden is a good intro, there are so many english language anime's "dub" available. It is a real insight into Japanese culture, its hard to sit through hollywoods formula (fastfood) drival, after anime. they are like a fine woven tapestry, of multi-universe’s & human emotion.

There's plenty of horrible anime, too. It's not immune to formulaic and hackneyed storytelling.
