Nice. I have no idea why they marked it age-restricted.

Probably because the video is so old, but then, I can't talk.

One of my all time favourites. Check out the woodstock version - awesome. Used to lust after Grace Slick - but I was only 17 and it was the late sixties :D

Can you explain to a non-musician what caused you to hate it? Just curious.

Their best song, IMO. The Collide remix is also fantastic.

I was an occasional member for a couple of bands in the late 70s and early 80s, and they all had a "Brown Eyed Girl" list. Songs on that list were by request only, and included songs like "Dixie Chicken," "Jumping Jack Flash," "Twist and Shout," and "La Grange." "White Rabbit" was on one list because the female vocalist insisted on making it a Must Play.

It wasn't that the members of the bands hated the songs; they had just gotten so tired of playing them. Requests for BEG List songs needed to be written on the back of a $5 bill.

Maybe because it's a bit about drugs ;)
One pill makes you larger
And one pill makes you small
And the ones that mother gives you
Don't do anything at all
And you've just had some kind of mushroom
And your mind is moving low
But it's a great song and a great band

early 1970's I walked into a back street bar in Tijuana with some biker buddies... all went silent,
all eyes were on the black leather jacketed white boys.

It was forever, then the band played the worst ever rendition of Louie Louie

Dude that's hilarious. Maybe they saw it coming, and played Louie Louie just for you.

I played around Nashville in 2010 and met a few bands who did White Rabbit. I've seen a lot of people attempt that song, but nobody hits it like grace! Everybody knows it, you weren't alone. Hey, also lusting after her from the shadows of the matrix was one outlaw journalist called hunter s. thompson. She didn't find out until much later he had a crush on her

Is it? As I recall Alice shrinks after drinking a potion labeled "drink me" and grows after eating apiece of cake labeled "eat me." Later, the caterpillar tells Alice that eating from one side of the mushroom will make her larger, but the other side will make her smaller, and she confirms that by eating some. I think she changes size several other times during the story. I think pretty much everything in the song is straight out of Lewis Carroll's "Alice in Wonderland", which has been read to children for well over a century now, and children have been watching the Disney film since 1951. There are numerous other recordings of "White Rabbit" on Youtube, but I didn't find any others that are age-restricted.

I can see how Mustang Sally could make it to a BEG List, but not for the bands I played with. They were an in-bred, thieving bunch who swapped and stole band members and arrangements. They all played a medley that mashed together Mustang Sally, Polk Salad Annie, Cinnamon Girl, Hey Bulldog and Jivin' Sister Fanny. It was not popular with anyone except the bands and club management, and it was mostly used to get people to go home.

Hmmm....interesting...

I was the bass player at an open mic and some guys I had met a few weeks earlier came in, and a singer who had started coming a few weeks before that came in.

We decided to get up and give it a go, and while trying to decide what songs to play I mentioned white rabbit. Yeah! The guitar player said it was a song he had learned at 17 (he was 22) for the talent contest at school.

The drummer and I started, the guitarist came in playing note for note, and when the singer came out with "One pill...." the whole room went

Silence fell and stayed that way to the end of the song.

Of course, when we tried it three weeks later we fell on our face...

One thing I would suggest, create a partition as a 50G partition as /. Partition the rest as /Home. IF the system fails, reinstall and use the exact same username and all your 'stuff' comes back to you.
