install win 8 via "winre.wim" or "install.wim" or something else from the "push button reset" or "recovery" partition

Post by Nitya Deva »

Hello,

I have installed Linux Mint 18.3 Cinnamon on my Acer Aspire E 15.
But now I would like to do a factory reset. By pressing Alt + F10 on reboot I do not get into the recovery menu anymore. Maybe because it needs an installed windows. At least somebody told me that.
The "Push Button Reset" partition exists on the disk and can easily be mounted into Linux. Since the local data volume there is 14 GB, Windows 8 would have to be available for reinstallation. There is also a "Recovery" partition.
Is it possible to run the ReBuildSSD.exe, the winre.wim or the install.wim which are found on this partitions?
Or does anyone have any idea how I could get into the recovery menu?
Even holding Shift when restarting does not work.

Thank you very much!
