One thing I would suggest, create a partition as a 50G partition as /. Partition the rest as /Home. IF the system fails, reinstall and use the exact same username and all your 'stuff' comes back to you.

BTW, what particular dialect of UK English so the father and son speak? I take it to be rural. Also, it's interesting to hear them use a very distinctly Germanic way of telling time: "half nine".

Re: Catweazel - over and out
Common usage in England. Although by "half nine" we mean "half past nine" whereas in Germany that would mean "half to nine".

And in The Netherlands as well.
Actually I think that both meanings (past/to) are Germanic in origin. I wonder what's it like in the other Germanic language that influenced English: Danish?

Re: Catweazel - over and out
I saw that from the Irish girlfriend on "Boardwalk Empire" ... "half three" = 3:30.
So I started saying stuff like "two-thirds three" for 3:40 or "one-sixth three" for 3:10, until I was threatened with bodily harm.

Re: Catweazel - over and out
The 11th. century, which is the time that Catweazel apparently lived, the language spoken would be old English very much based on Anglo-Saxon. The Norman influence had not got deeply rooted into English at that time and Catweazel, who looks a serf, most likely knew little Norman French.
