Wine OS
Many, very many complain about Wine - and about lack of GNU-Linux Mint compatibility with MS Office, various state tax declaration programs and PDF...
Why not a stable Wine OS? Straight from the box and iTunes compatible. Payable with a convenient monthly subscription.
Would be a good startup - wouldn't it?

Perhaps you could also look at the Commercial version of ./wine:
https://www.codeweavers.com/products/windowsmac/
and see if that works for your windows program.
you will find that iTunes typically won't agree with most ./wine versions.

Re: Wine OS
What do you have in mind when you say 'Wine OS'? An OS that can run Windows software? That exists, it's called Windows. So if not that, then what?
If your issue is solved, kindly indicate that by editing the first post in the topic, and adding [SOLVED] to the title. Thanks!
Re: Wine OS
There is always virtual box also. you can install windows in that and run what you want. In some cases programs actually will run better in virtual machine than on windows itself.
Wine is kinda hit and miss at times since I do not use any windows office software on linux, never needed to do not know how it runs in wine.

Re: Wine OS
By the way: As Microsoft currently loves and supports Linux (probably without GNU), I'm guessing a future Winux.
e.g. Winux Wint Wate or Winux Wint Winnamon...
I'm not so sure about the other variants yet, but the marketing department in Redmond accepts well-intentioned suggestions with thanks.

If you really believe that then take out registration on the domain names. MS will offer pay $10 each for them.absque fenestris wrote: ⤴Fri Oct 05, 2018 9:16 pm By the way: As Microsoft currently loves and supports Linux (probably without GNU), I'm guessing a future Winux.

Re: Wine OS
Good idea. Not to forget Chinese variants of it
Re: Wine OS
How does baking Wine into a dedicated distro make it magically compatible with more Windows software?
Re: Wine OS
even though they are "just shortcuts" - - to an On-Line Version of M$ Office,,catweazel wrote: ⤴Fri Oct 05, 2018 7:10 pmThey're just shortcuts.absque fenestris wrote: ⤴Fri Oct 05, 2018 6:59 pm Uh, well... - maybe, things like that:

- they do fulfill a need for some folks who do wish to use that M$ Office.
which is why, there is such an concerted effort, in getting that M$ Office to work on Linux Systems.
there is, just a few other, Windows based software, that does also get that much attention,
but, the rest of that Windows software, may never get much attention, as there is no return for that effort,
ie: some $$$ - - why else would any business expend that much effort ?.
