I don't know how you do it but thanks. I know I wouldn't last long as one.

Moderator life is easy, just ban someone when you feel down, brings the smile back to your face.

Just kidding, I know from experience that keeping a community running smoothly isn't always easy. Good job guys.

as moderator on a motorcycle forum, the above is quite true

but, it does require that you hold your tongue, write up your MAD thoughts in LibreOffice and let them set there awhile,
go back and review that "post" and see if it is still needs to be posted.....

in my case, with 4 moderators, we take a vote before we kick someone off the forum.
that kind of levels out the "hot fingers that are mad right now" from getting me in trouble.

The job of moderator is made somewhat easier here than on some other forums I know of by the fact that most of the forums users are pretty decent people.

I've been a moderator in a Facebook group and a couple message boards a long time ago, and I would never, ever take that job again.

Definite kudos to all the mods here.

I was a moderator on a Land Rover forum for MANY years. It was (still is) a huge forum and the number of mods increased as the forum grew. Most users were reasonable but there were always the 1% which take up 99% of the time to sort out.

I am admin/mod/owner of a motorcycle forum. It's relatively specialist and so far so good.

I am a mod on a motorcycle facebook group. I never get involved in modding comments etc unless someone reports/complains which has been rarely. In fact I don't spend too much time on there at all.

I am owner/mod on a maritime history FB group - great bunch of people - aside from removing a spammer or two I've never had to 'mod' it at all.

It is ENTIRELY dependent on the people involved in the groups, and their level of maturity/adulthood. :)

Just another thanks from me. I am sure it must be a thankless task at times. It is nice here though and I am sure that the mods are part of making it nice. :)

Erm... if it's a thankless job, why are we thanking them?

I am a mod on another forum and am well aware of the thankless task of being a mod. Fortunately, as here, the members are all reasonable and well behaved people. So, not only would I like to thank the mods, but also, the membership for making their job so much easier. I, personally, do not waste my time on forums that are filled with flame wars. I have better things to do with my time than trawl through hundreds of posts to find a nugget of information. If I don't like it, why should I subject others to that sort of behaviour. So. Once again, thank you to you all!

Testify! Thank you Mods!

I know only too well the patience and hard work it takes - years back I was not only a mod on big forum but head mod coordinating a team of moderators on it. The happy dance I did when after several years of that I decided to step down - shook the neighborhood!
