Clonezilla Question

Post by HaveaMint » Tue Aug 21, 2018 12:59 am

When you restore a clonezilla save does it move the data to the front of the drive or does it place it in the same place it was on during the save?

Are you restoring a partition or entire drive?

I only save in partitions. I am not restoring just curious. I should have asked if it moves everything to the front of the partition.

Hmmm....I'm curious, too. I've been using Clonezilla for 6+ months now, but only to clone entire drives. I doubt that a restore would push data around like that.

Kind of like a cheater way to defrag a partition.

I got curious after reading an article catweazel posted a link to SSD and leaving space on them. The author was talking about holes left where data was deleted.
