I must say it's a bit disappointing (to say the least) to see the number of "one post wonders", especially when people have taken the time & effort to try to help.

I do feel that at the very least, when we ask a complete newbie for an inxi report, some indication should be given that this is a command that should be used in the terminal.
I do agree with this; we should make it clearer (generally) when asking for inxi reports or other Terminal commands & their output & also explain, if it seems appropriate, why we usually ask for this rather than going through the GUI route.

Agreed, started as a mint 'newbie' about two years ago and wouldn't be where I am now without the help of others on this forum. Think I've progressed past apprentice, maybe journeyman, certainly not craftsman. Always took the effort to say thanks for the help provided. Now in a position to offer advice in a number of limited areas.

But, having read through the thread I do have some sympathy for those that 'run away' because they have been given a wealth of advice which can conflict. And in some cases, wrong (I've been guilty).

Not just on this site though .. and mistakes on the Mint Forums are often spotted by other contributors on here. One site, for example, gave a command missing that final / ... making all the difference!

I agree it's rude not to return. Even if I don't get what I want from a thread and decide to call it a day I make the effort to go back and at least thank people for their efforts.

People might not always comment, but I've noticed these kinds of posters often get their come-uppance- people remember and just don't bother responding next time they have a question.

Perhaps instead of getting irritated to the point of 'Hating' if someone doesn't respond to your help you can look at the many that may read the information later and not have to ask.

IF your problem has been solved, please edit your original post and add [SOLVED] to the beginning of the Subject Line. It helps other members.
