Backup a vbox image

Post by HaveaMint »

I have a vbox with win7 on it and it was a royal pita activating with Microsoft. Is there a way to save the vbox vdi image so I don't have to listen to the M$ stuff again.

so, from the Host System, where VirtualBox is installed:
- File - Export Appliance - - then Select the V.machine to Export - - select format to save in
and keep clicking on Next to complete the export.

NB: it can be a Big File - - so keep it somewhere safe.
- it will take a while to Export out & can also take a while to Import back again.

In the terminal cp -a vbox.vdi vbox.vdi.bak

Make sure the win vm is not running when you do it...
