I'm glad to see he moved it off of Google's site. I wonder why he did it. :?:

Thanks, didn't know that one. :D
Hardware, operating systems, software and networking are are nothing else than necessary, cumbersome and easily replaceable evils to store and provide data. Triple backup your data at least, twice on-site, and another copy off-site.

Pjotr's contributions via that site alone are significant, and much appreciated.

Thanks for the compliments, and indeed I've moved it.... :)

The reason is that Google will soon force users of the old Google Sites, to convert their sites to the new Google Sites. Which I don't like for several reasons.

Blogspot (also owned by Google) offers me the best free alternative, including low-level control over the HTML.

It was a lot of work though, because I wanted to start at Blogspot with clean HTML. So I had to clean up the Google Sites HTML big time. Which has cost me many hours. Oh well, the job is done now. Before Christmas even. :P

One thing that I think "my" visitors will like, is the single column layout at Blogspot. That should make it easier to browse for information than the double column layout of my former Google Site. Furthermore, the pages all have logical names now, instead of the naming mishmash at the Google Site.

As a final note I have to say that I'm grateful towards Google for providing me with free high-quality hosting for over a decade at Google Sites. The old Google Sites was a magnificent tool.

Pjotr

I like the newer one column format, and I can see that you have put in a huge amount of effort to redo it.

Are the old tips for 18.3 still available ?

I looked thru it, and found the line for "older OS" versions, but it did not contain the stuff dedicated to 18.3

I am not using 19.1, just simply don't like it as I feel it is still " too new " and not totally settled in.

That is much easier to work with, glad those two narrow columns have gone. :D I do have to reduce to 80% magnification to fit it on this screen though; around 85% would be ideal but not sure if this is possible with Waterfox. Same issue with many sites these days however ...

How is it you come to know such fairly low-level inner workings of Linux Mint (e.g.: constant revision of the steps for trim with each LM release)?

That's one of the only good Linux blogs/whatever for beginners in existence. One of the biggest issues I see for Linux newbies is all the CRAP blogs out there. This one is one of the few exceptions.
