I never have been comfortable with the idea of running water cooling in or near any electrical components, but a lot do.

it looks like a high frequency RF power amplifier assembly...DAMIEN

ps...possibly used with ham radio equipment, something akin to what might have been referred to as a commercial modulator AKA a "linear"?

My guess is a really large bandpass filter

Automatic gain control? Amplifier detector? RF in/out? I searched the bits I could read which makes this sound like something for AM radio or radar. I'm with MrEen though: it mostly looks like a prototype Flux Capacitor :)

I wanted to say it was an HP 8640 Signal Generator, but then I thought to myself, "Nah... it couldn't be that. It's probably just some goofy neutron flow polarity reverser." :roll:
