Humanity's First Legitimate Image of a Black Hole...

Post by Portreve » Tue Apr 09, 2019 5:02 am

It's supposed to be publicly unveiled later today.

Technically, it's an image of the event horizon, but still it's going to be interesting to see.

Anyone else here excited to see the results of the world's largest virtual telescope?

I'll grin, but only when NASA or the US Air Force trots out a living, breathing alien.

In writing my first post, I misspoke. It is scheduled for tomorrow, April 10, at 9:00 a.m. EST.

Honestly, I'm looking forward to seeing something for the first time that is a part of nature.

Yep. That's exactly what I meant. I didn't realize there was another of the 24 time zones referred to as "EST". My bad. :o

Except for the color, it does not look any different than other images of Black Holes that I have seen.

You have never before seen an image of a black hole; only artist impressions.

Necessarily, but that was already commented on by Portreve himself and too much of a given to concerns ourselves with.
