[SOLVED] Recommended HDD Brands

Post by DJF113 »

I'm looking at purchasing another HDD for my array, and I was just curious which brands everyone would recommend. I already have a 4TB WD Blue 5400RPM and a 4TB WD Black. I would like to get a 6TB 5400RPM this time, but Western Digital Blue is about $155 on Amazon. Has anyone had good success with BarraCudas or any others? This one will mainly be used for backups of my laptops.

Every brand of HDD is as unreliable as the other.

You'll be fine with either choice. Hard drives fail all the time, so almost everybody has a story about how one particular brand failed them. So, asking for user experiences probably won't be very much help.

Okay, thanks for the replies. I knew that different people I have asked all lean strongly one way or the other. I just wanted to see if anyone knew of any facts that I didn't find anywhere. Thanks again!

This statement is false.

In your place, I'd also definitely want to hear about people having bad failures instead of success...
