Microsoft"s New "Modern OS"
Notice they're not calling it "Windows"... wonder if it will be based on the Linux kernel

Re: Microsoft"s New "Modern OS"
Maybe they will call it doors and the motto will be '"Why climb through windows when you can walk through doors"
Or maybe not

Re: Microsoft"s New "Modern OS"
Well... here's one person's take on what Microsoft's next OS might be. I think they pretty much see their current (and traditional) OS model is going downhill rapidly as more and more people turn to tablets and smartphones for the majority of their computing functionality.
Or, in the words of Internet urban legend Portreve (oh, wait... that's me!): “Attempting to care, please weight...”
Sounds like some heavy s**t, man.

This somewhat conflicts with my mantra that closing windows opens doors.
Notice that I did not mispell windows

As more info becomes available, it sounds like the second coming of Windows 8. Might be fun to watch.Portreve wrote: ↑Mon Jun 03, 2019 9:40 pmWell... here's one person's take on what Microsoft's next OS might be.

Micro$oft can call it what they like...it's still Crap.

Maybe Micro$oft should call it "Exodus" because of the many Windoze users who will walk away at the end of this year.

The comments are amusing, especially the treads about whether it will support 32-bit Windows applications and how that will affect the "Enterprise" market.Portreve wrote: ↑Mon Jun 03, 2019 9:40 pmWell... here's one person's take on what Microsoft's next OS might be.
If history is any indication, Windows Core OS will be late, it will arrive missing many promised and heavily hyped features, the minimum system requirements will be overly generous, it will need at least one SP before it is anything close to being usable, and it will be pre-installed on machines that barely meet the minimum system requirements ... which will bear a "Made for Windows Core OS" sticker.

Not to sound critical, but isn't that describing the usual MS release strategyBenTrabetere wrote: ↑Tue Jun 04, 2019 12:39 pmIf history is any indication, Windows Core OS will be late, it will arrive missing many promised and heavily hyped features, the minimum system requirements will be overly generous, it will need at least one SP before it is anything close to being usable, and it will be pre-installed on machines that barely meet the minimum system requirements ... which will bear a "Made for Windows Core OS" sticker.

Re: Microsoft"s New "Modern OS"
Well yeah its perhaps time for microsoft to change gears again and actually apply the lessons learned from the mistakes they made.
And its not like Microsoft is incapable of doing this, the mistakes they made with vista were fixed with windows 7, the issues of windows 8 and 8.1 are actually fixed by windows 10.
Sure windows 10 also has its fair share of issues but that doesnt mean they cant fix it and or revamp and make a OS thats decent.
The thing is I actually like windows 10 despite all of its issues, foibles and follies.
If it didnt do stupid crap like install candy crush without my consent or have crappy updates i think it would be fine.
sure there is that whole spying thing it does but thats actually easy to fix compared to the more annoying issues windows 10 has.
I actually wish microsoft luck on this new project, for as much as people hate on them they are still a key player in the industry and are a part of the linux foundation.
You know what they say, keep your friends close, keep your enemies closer :p
(plus Microsoft being part of the linux foundation is kind of a good thing as we need someone to counter googles influence on linux and sad to say but i think right now Microsoft is the lesser of the two evils)

Re: Microsoft"s New "Modern OS"
the Microsoft Company has been losing it's relevance, for some time, now.
the thing is, that you buy some gadget with an M$ O/S on it,
& then spend the next Few Weeks, in trying to use that gadget - for the purpose that you bought it.
& & You Can't Do That
that M$ O/S actually prevents you, from using that gadget - as you had intended to do .. .
ie: I'm currently watching an young woman, who purchased an notebook from an ADLI store,
& is currently having the usual issues, in getting that notebook, useful enough - to actually use that notebook.
- - it's crazy, just how many issues, that there are, with the win-10 that is installed onto that notebook.

they do say, that their New "Modern OS" is vastly different to their win-10 O/S - - but, that remains, to been seen.

Re: Microsoft"s New "Modern OS"
When the day comes that Microsoft closes its doors, or is set on fire and burns to the ground, I will celebrate. I would prefer to see it be utterly destroyed while Bill Gates is still alive, but I'll settle for afterwards.
Re: Microsoft"s New "Modern OS"
Microsoft might as well call it what it is, Spyware/Malware since that's how it's going to engineered as. It will have more back doors than an illegal drug operation.
When Microsoft said it's secure
Microsoft should call it Microsoft Fools. Because only fools would use it.
The best time to release it is on April 1st.
It was because of Windows 10 that made me switch to Linux.
