Is the Tenth Planet Really a Bowling Ball-sized PBH?

Post by Portreve » Tue Oct 01, 2019 4:08 am

Not content with putting out speculation that gamma rays escaping from around a black hole may be traveling faster than the speed of light, the scientific community is now mooting another interesting idea: the odd orbital behavior of things in the outer solar system may not be caused by an as-yet-undetected ninth planet, but in fact a bowling ball-sized primordial black hole. In a new paper, Jakub Scholtz and James Unwin make the case that a five-to-ten Earth mass black hole is at least a possibility, given that up to this point it's also conjectured a so-called "Planet X" would need to be about this mass.

That might be nice, act like a space vacuum cleaner, helping keep inner solar planets safer.

Maybe in the solar system there is 11 or 12 or 13 planets, but can we consider a black hole to be planet? I'm not sure. In fact, these numbers according to mythological considerations not science, and maybe it can be right, for example, for every tribe of Israel there's a planet and green wave and there's one black wave, maybe it'll be the black hole.

Keh?????? Where do you get your mythology from? There's nothing in the Torah, or any other holy book that I know of that even refers to this?

Religious posts aren't allowed Isemmens. I said "maybe", so you can ignore these sayings, it can be true that we'll find in the future that there's more than 9 planets in the solar system, I heard you want to dismiss Pluto from the planets group, so we'll have 8 ones, we want more :D

Poor Jews then. God's going to scatter them among planets now?!

For starters, you started the "religious stuff" with with the tribes of Israel, and I called you out on it. and for seconders, I DID not make an unfounded assertion that Pluto is no longer regarded as a planet. That is a FACT, not one that I am happy with, mind you, but them's the breaks. I will not comment further upon your assertions.

Note, I here made a valiant and successful attempt at keeping "religion" confined as much as possible; both an earlier reply of his and my response to it were moderated right out of the thread. That is, he is not accusing but is saying "sorry, lsemmens, I am not allowed to discuss this further here".

Because I said "tribes of Israel" it was considered religious?! OK, how someone can talk about Israel race?! Palestinians should come angry if we mentioned Israel, and no sense for American forum.

For Pluto, if you think I'm wrong, as you wish but we should understand styles of talking.

If it's allowed I've no problem but I think I read in forum rules that it's not allowed, so if the moderator saw post has like a religious nature, he will remove it, it's not rules I put.

From the way I read it, rene was posting in support of you, Pascal. (that is, in relation to religion). Nor was I attempting to draw you into a religious argument. I just asked you to post evidence in support of your statement.

It was declassified as a planet a while ago. https://www.space.com/why-pluto-is-not-a-planet.html

Not "in relation to religion" as such, no. In support of him in the sense of explaining that his "religious posts aren't allowed Isemmens" was likely not accusing you of posting inappropriate content but apologizing to you that he couldn't really answer any more, due to just having experienced being moderated.

Feeling that said moderation was fairly explicitly provoked by your's truly (kudos, moderator) thought I'd at least note Pascal not also being unfair to you in that regard...

I've no objection to rene, and my answer wasn't religious argument, it was my evidence not for supporting but to tell how I get my prediction, I told that "maybe" it can be true or false, it's just prediction. There was no religious argument at all.

I saw on the internets that it's a brown hole orbiting Uranus, along with some unicorns.
