Google going to ban cookies one day

Post by AZgl1500 »

soon they say, like in about 2 years.

just to see how that will effect things, I went into Preferences and set FF to erase all Cookies every time it closes.

if it were not for LastPass, I would be lost and not able to login into my favorite forums.

it is a major PITA.

Your missing some words in your thread title - they are banning third-party cookies, i.e advertising trackers. Sites will still be able to set their own first-party cookies for login credentials and the like.

Also you left out the word 'Chrome'. I was wondering what Google could do about cookies on my machine...

Yeah. If cookies were totally banned, it sounds like it would cause some potential headaches for many places, even forums. If every time I came here, or even clicked a link to go somewhere else on LMF, and I had to re-log-in, that would suck.

"Some potential headaches"? Much Web activity, most benign, would stop working immediately.

I think I've blocked 3rd party cookies since that option is in Firefox. Never had any problems with sites. You'll be fine. 3rd party cookies are something they need; you don't.

PSA: 3rd party cookies are made of sawdust and other stuff found on the factory floor. Don't eat!
