Perhaps no words are needed on your end of this issue but what you posted is the equivalent of "This don't work good".

I betcha if you were to post the output of the following commands someone here might actually respond:

Code: Select all

sudo blkid -c /dev/null -o list

Code: Select all

cat /etc/fstab
Please add a [SOLVED] at the end of your original subject header if your question has been answered and solved.

Altair4,

Thank you very much for your superior technical approach to what I thought and was supposed to be a simple joke.

Of course, there's no such thing as perfect OS's, though there are some more perfect than others.
That´s the main reason, why I left Windows for good and adopted Linux MINT, wich is way closer to
my personal needs. Definitly ***** to MINT and all the good people involved with its development and support.

When I was born to IT, back in the 70's, I had to hard-code machine language. Macro-Assembler was a giant step.
So, you can imagine how happy I am with software offer nowadays :D .

Please forgive if my post, made me look pretentious. I'm not.

Wish you, best of everything

Whatever the joke is, I know I certainly didn't get it.
Please remember to mark your fixed problem [SOLVED].

I'm deeply sorry for that, Portreve. Anyway, you certainly don't look someone with enough sense of humour,
to try and understand the joke. Maybe your british alter ego, would have.

Cheers,

I don't get it either. Maybe something was lost in translation.

The joke sailed over my head as did the realization that you are British or is it just your alter ego that is British - I'm confused on all counts here.

Another voice to the choir. Perhaps poster misreads the by the error message displayed UUID as an of Windows reminiscent useless error code due to it being line-wrapped in the dialogue. Or, similarly, perhaps has the "or other error" bit remind him of useless error messages. Otherwise no idea either.

Maybe it was his dog who was "unable to mount..."? Because my neighbor has a dog which tries to mount anything it can and it is quite funny to see.

This is what happens when you use Google Translate. Yesterday I was shopping online for a Y connector which would allow me to plug separate earphones and microphone into a single 3.5 mm smartphone connector. One listing, obviously machine translated from Chinese, said it was "one male and two women", "delicious and sustainable with silky smooth skin", etc.

Use Google translate and it gets funnier with every new pass.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/English_as_She_Is_Spoke
English as She Is Spoke is the common name of a 19th-century book that was intended as a Portuguese–English conversational guide or phrase book, but is regarded as a classic source of unintentional humour in translation, because the "English" translations provided are usually inaccurate or incoherent.

When you wrote, ''No words are needed', I had to stop myself from replying with, 'And no words are needed to fix it'.

The moderators may have frowned on that as being unhelpful though.
It's pronounced kad-eye-cha, not kada-itcha.

No words are needed. ....
File system (volume) with logical errors.
Trying to fix:
Paste the following commands in a terminal window (command prompt), one command at a time:

Code: Select all

sudo umount UUID=a7b2fa6e-29ce-4020-897d-8a6ac8dab227
sudo fsck -vfp UUID=a7b2fa6e-29ce-4020-897d-8a6ac8dab227
Note: Never type or paste a command from a translated page. Copy the command directly from the page in the original language of the page (in this case, English).

Explaining:
The first command will unmount the volume, if it is mounted.
The second command will automatically check for and attempt to correct logical errors in the volume. Equivalent, but not equal, to Windows chkdsk.

No kidding. By now I'm not even sure the entire topic was needed.

It's adoringly surreal though. I.e., I'm still clicking on that screenshot trying to think of what "the joke" may have been and letting my interpretational skills wander to places hitherto unseen by mankind...

Just clicked on it again. I.e., I most certainly am experiencing massive obsessive compulsive disorder wrt. "not getting it" here. Was recently also in a conspiracy-theory thread on the forum here and have wondered (or in fact, stated) more frequently that that specific mental disorder is the basically same one, only combined with incompetence and/or unwillingness to put in the needed effort as to what is in those cases to be got. Still allowing one a self-image as "he who gets it" without in fact having to do anything for it.

Which NOW has me wonder if the Theatre of the Aburd is just a front for the Illuminati!? Aaah!?
