No matter the store name:

My daughter is a cost shopper, she walks every isle and if it is not 50% off, it stays in the store

Me? I walk straight to the shelf the product I want is on, pick it up, and pay for it and leave.
I don't cost shop in stores.

Online?
yes, I do

Okay, can we be done with the old 'women spend too much on frivolous stuff, har har har' jokes? That's such a tired old saw and frankly I get sick of it...
Thank you!

Curiously, my first experience at ikea was pretty underwhelming. No urge for buy stuff and so. I was cranky that day for excessive work...

Of course it's a crock, Moem, but, us blokes do get a laugh out of it. If any of us seriously thought that we could get away with that sort of behaviour IRL, there'd be a lot more women on trial for murder. :D

Some do. Some don't. In any case, many of us here don't appreciate it.
It should be possible to get a laugh without putting anyone down, right?

Ikea is a good place for listening to ABBA music and collecting Allen Keys :)

Again, thank you! I left two forums recently because of the number of insensitive jerks posting on them.

That is, just so you know, lsemmens, AZgl1500, Pjotr (and me, but in my case it's quite correct) at least: you're insensitive jerks according to Lady Fitzgerald.

No one said that.
Doesn't mean it can't be true, but it's not been said.

Someone at minimum very, very strongly implied that. You were after all thanked for "correcting" the people I mentioned with as reason her leaving other forums due the, I quote, insensitive jerks there. In which sense I would like to request if we can finally be done with the "men are so insenstive har har har" trope. It's such an old saw and frankly I get sick of it. And in any case many of us don't appreciate it.

How can that be? You just called yourself insensitive. Then how can it bother you to be called insensitive? Wouldn't that require sensitivity?

Anyway, we've all had a laugh, you're a good parrot, have a cracker... and now let's get back to talking about the dangers of Ikea, without putting anyone down. I'm pretty sure we can manage it.

I have another proposal: let's all be better able to take a joke.

Most jokes, and certainly most of the best ones, are a bit prickly or sometimes even rather stinging. If we seek to eradicate such jokes, we're left with nothing but boring tedious well-behaved yawn-inducing little "jokes". That's the nature of humour....

I'm all for jokes. But the ones that rely on putting other people down will have to be for elsewhere. That's the nature of this forum.

As Moem points out, the use of the correct terms. With the pandemic we have been told to maximize "social distancing" while everyone has been reading this forum - which reduces "social distancing". It maximizes "physical distancing" while reducing "social distancing". "Social media", connecting at a distance. Who came up with the term "social" instead of "physical"?

Which leaves one going online for Ikea instead of walking through their store. Incidentally you have to search with "ikea online shopping" in the search term as it isn't visible on their Home page, or certainly not on my first search.

Sigh! You still don't get it. It is possible to have hilarious humor (or humour, depending on where you live) without insulting people. "Humor" that gets laughs at the expense of others is simply a calloused disregard for the feelings of others and may indicate an inability to be creative enough to be able to come up with humor that is not insulting. Being able to "take a joke" is NOT the answer. This world would be a much better place if everyone would be more considerate of others and stop only thinking about themselves so much.

Btw, the limited insensitivity I have seen here is nothing compared to what was going on in the two forums I recently left.

I do not care for the style of that IKEA "stuff" (not to mention the inflated price tags! Ouch!). However, Ikea serves a niche consumer base who happens to be quite happy with it.

So why read this thread? If you don't like it switch on brain, switch off fingers (clicking on this thread) and ignore it.

As for the online bit, just had a look further at it and as I suspected, some ideas there could be build upon. At our Shed we make cell phone/smart phone holders. A variant of the Ikea model might be looked at too.

If anyone is thinking that's stealing ideas, personally I'm not too worried, partly because the idea would be reworked and partly because some of my, and friends, ideas are on the world market. We don't get any reward from anyone. It is like Linux - FREE.
