Christmas music because of the restaurant¹ where I'm eating linner² after work and a long week.

¹ Mandola's Italian Restaurant in Riverview, Florida. Excellent stuff.
² A portmanteau of “lunch” and “dinner”. My job has a very early start time, so for me, normal lunch time is dinner time.

Just keep coming back to this, as I feel it is one of the best of its type ever written.

Just listened again, for the first time in several years, to what I think is Genesis's best album, Foxtrot.

What a fantastic opening track Watcher_of_the_Skies with amazing organ/synth section at the start!

Yes, and the full new album (available in the link in the youtube description under the video) was apparently released just a month ago.

Union Pacific Railroad, RR tracks border my six acre lot for more than 660 feet, and only 330 feet from the house.

3 to 6 times per hour....

in between those segments, the same thing, but it is called Tinnitus, 24/7/365

The Finale/Chorale of Beethoven's 9th Symphony is one of only a handful of pieces of music that can evoke a strong emotional response from me every time I hear it. Also on the list are Finlandia (Sibelius), "Albatross" (Fleetwood Mac), and "Imagine" (John Lennon).

Two places in the Chorale that always get me choked up to the point of tears are when the full chorus kicks in, which is at the 7-minute and 11-minute points of this recording.
And of course the 1812 played properly with real cannons. It has to have real cannons.

To the best of my knowledge the first recording of the 1812 with real cannons was by Cincinnati Pops Orchestra (Erich Kunzel at the helm) from 1979. I have the original release on LP, and I was sorely disappointed when it got to the bit with the cannons. I had a somewhat decent turntable at the time, but it was not good enough to pass this test; at the first cannon shot the needle bounced off the disk.

Many years later it was released on CD. Damnear ruined a pair of sub-woofers by cranking it up to 11. Here is that recording.

I can get emotional from several music, being pop, rock, classic or jazz.
Just "Cowboys and Angels" came by in the random playlist. It is one of those songs that matures in time and gets better and when understood it was written by George Michael about a personal thing gets even better. As you probably know George Michael passed away Christmas 2016. It is curious that with every Christmas someone famous passes away. Not that I would want to be in their shoes.
