"Tramps & Hawkers", "Grey Funnel Line", "I'm a Free Born Man" and a hundred other folk songs. All through a Peavey VP2 amplifier which I'm testing. I had to change to output semiconductors a while ago. Now the owner complains it jumps from Bass to the top light. In a couple of weeks it has done it twice for me, the rest of the time no problems.

Back to the rest of the folk, "Red is the Rose", The Silver Tassie" etc. etc. while I dismantle a bit of electronics and try to get a laptop power supply to go.

Right now? I'm luxuriating in the sound of comparative silence inside my home, with only the faint sound of a nearby freeway in the background. Sadly, that glorious near silence will not last long.

Darn, a jet plane just violated that silence.

Double darn, the jet has been replaced by the roar of the house fan for the heat pump.

Right as of this second, quite literally the sound of silence. It's very pleasant.

Later in the day, if I listen to any particular music, I'll update you all (because I know you're waiting with baited breath) and then we can go from there.

The Finale movements of Beethoven's 9th Symphony, with Herbert von Karajan conducting the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. I get choked up nearly every time the full chorus kicks in around the 56-minute mark.

Radio Caroline 319 Gold!

I've seemingly always liked listening to Dutch Radio in one form or another. :D
Just through my (ten years old, and still good) computer speakers. I never cared for using headphones of any kind, they either hurt my ears or my head, so speakers are good enough, thank you :)

Interesting mix of music mentioned, nice to see a lot of rock.

Just put together a compilation of Volbeat tracks for the car. I had to change it before the other half killed me. Apparently she doesn't like Danheim. This from someone who loves the Vikings series.

10 years and I still don't understand how her brain works.

Angelina Jordan (born 10 Jan 2006). Original song. The first released under her contract with Republic Records. She wrote it as a tribute to her grandfather, who died Nov2019 and for all those who have grieving the death of someone close to them.

That's kind of a disturbing song. I wonder what happened to her to inspire her to write something like that.

Aurora is a Norwegian singer and prolific songwriter. She rarely sings songs written by others. In my opinion - and I am not qualified to write this - she could be on the autistic spectrum. However, unlike others with autism her world is not entirely black or white as her songs encourage her audience to consider every possibility why an event happens.

Of "Murder song 5 4 3 2 1 she has said "This song is so close to me. It is about two people in love. To me, it isn't that she defends her killer's actions it is a story of a world that is so dark and horrible that he (with her knowing he is going to do it) kills her out of mercy, so she doesn't have to live in the horrible world. They are so in love that the only way to save her is to kill her, it is a very deep song that is extremely powerful."

All of her songs show an understanding of the human condition.

I encourage you to listen to another of her songs There are many from which to choose, so I will list one which is so different from "Murder song 5 4 3 2 1" that it takes a little rearranging of ones brain cells to realise it was written by the same person.

"Exist for love" - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7YDkrJaiCrw

Aurora said that, at first, "Exist for Love" was about a specific person, however, it became something way bigger than her and this individual from the moment it wasn't only a song to remind how beautiful love is any more, but also a song meant to make those who listen to it feel loved if they can't be wrapped by this kind of love at the moment, for some reason. That's why she directed this music video herself – she wanted to make sure that she could look at the camera in a way that we can feel that all this love is about us.
And when love somehow fades away from our lives, or becomes unreachable or one-sided, this song could be a painful memory. But it isn't. This song is more than that.
It's a shelter.

If you wish to know more about Aurora, point your browser to Wikepedia. Here is the link.

My apologies for going on at such a length about this remarkable young singer/songwriter. There is no prizr for coming to the opinion that I am a fan of hers :-)
