Anyhow...

So for the second shot, over again no symptoms, and no sensations at all.

I'm really thinking the Pfizer one is the best of the lot.

I'm inclined to agree even though I originally thought it would be the Moderna.

I had my first shot at the first of the month. I had no side effects and even the tenderness at the injection site was minimal. I am booked for my second shot in mid August and will be very happy to be fully vaccinated. Even with both shots we can still get the bug BUT the illness would be much milder and ultimately avoid hospitalization or worse.

Had an email yesterday from a friend, former colleague (I employed him). Haven't seen or talked since covid struck (he's 250 miles away). Shocked to hear he'd caught it back in Feb from someone in his bubble, had it badly, now recovered (nearly). He's now had both his shots and hopefully we'll meet up for a pie & a pint in the next couple of months. In his mid 50's. Get offered a shot, take it!

Remarkable. In The Netherlands, if you've already had COVID-19 within the past six months, you're supposed to get one shot only, because of (supposedly) potentially violent side effects of the second shot....

But maybe this has something to do with the different vaccine mix we have here. In Britain the "work horse" of the vaccination campaign is Astra Zeneca, and in The Netherlands it's (currently) mainly Pfizer/BioNTech.

Short answer - I don't know and I had the pfizer vaccine (don't know if there was a choice, I didn't ask). 65+ age group.

I suspect this is true of other places, but with CVS (a pharmacy/chemist's in the U.S.) you get a list of all the places doing shots, with a breakout by type of vaccine. You then pick the location based on which type of vaccine, and you're golden.

Interesting! Here in the Netherlands we don't get to choose; we get invited to make an appointment, and we get the vaccin that's on offer for our demographic. I'm getting Janssen next Saturday.

Well, looks like I spoke too soon...

I was perfectly fine all day yesterday and all day today up until about 1 hour ago. And now, I'm starting the beginning signs of flu symptoms. So, I take that to mean my body has now constructed defenses against COVID-19 and is actually starting to use them. Yay! (Sort of.)

I feel warm and achy all over and tired, and a general sense of malaise. Oh, and a headache.

@Portreve: sounds rather unpleasant; hopefully it'll pass soon. How much time was there between your first shot and your second?

Why do we even care? Eligibility varies from country to country and can vary even within countries. I'm just thankful she was able to get the shot so she will be more likely to stick around and ride herd on us.

Haha. It's unfortunate though, that in The Netherlands we don't have a choice in which vaccine we get.... So much for our consumer freedom.

Personally I'm pretty satisfied with the Pfizer/BioNTech I got (second shot due three weeks from now; the standard interval over here is five weeks). But if I would have had the choice, I think I would have selected Janssen: so well designed that one shot suffices.

Three weeks. And while I don't feel perfect now, I do feel a bit better than yesterday when I wrote that post.

I got my first shot of Moderna yesterday. Had expected Pfizer but this is fine with me. Have a sore upper arm since yesterday and can't lift it above shoulder height today. If that's the worst of it… :) Should hopefully subside in a day or two.

I was given Moderna and all I got was the sore arm from both shots spaced 4 weeks apart.
My neighbors received the same and none had an adverse reaction, so all will be well...r

Got the first Pfizer today.

In Ontario, they opened up availability to 30+ about a week and a half ago. Appointments were pretty much full at that point. And then two days later they opened it up to 18+. So, appointment booking was flooded even more. So it took a while to get an appointment. Process was easy. Took less than an hour.

I had it about 12 hours ago. No side effects so far. After about 6-8 hours there's been a bit of arm pain, but only when I lift it all the way up. I probably wouldn't have even thought much of it if people weren't talking about arm pain as a side effect.
