Re: Ubuntu CEO arrested for looting
I don't think Ubuntu Wealth Group has anything to do with the Ubuntu distro.

Re: CEO of Ubuntu Wealth Group arrested for looting
Hi, Hoser Rob.
I guess you are right. Ubuntu Wealth Group
So the thread title is deliberately misleading, because it should read "CEO of Ubuntu Wealth Group arrested for looting".
It should have been made clear that "Ubuntu Wealth Group" is not "Canonical".
Plus, being suspected of looting does not imply that the man has been involved in looting really.
You see in quite a few countries around the globe this man has to be considered innocent until he has been proven guilty at court.
This thread is cheap razzle-dazzle.
If the company name did not include the word "Ubuntu" this thread would never have seen the light. Too bad it has.
Regards,
Karl

Re: Ubuntu CEO arrested for looting
Don't blame me for your assumptions or ignorance. There is no "Ubuntu CEO" for Ubuntu software, since the company is Canonical.karlchen wrote: ⤴Tue Jul 27, 2021 8:52 am I guess you are right. Ubuntu Wealth Group

I'd always thought the story behind the name "Ubuntu" was fake, so it was interesting to see the word/name in a different context.

Re: Ubuntu CEO arrested for looting [SOLVED]
There are several different companies in South Africa with Ubuntu in their name, Can't say I have heard of "Ubuntu Wealth Group" before and I was wasn't aware of this SABC article either (SABC is the original free-to-air TV/Radio broadcaster here, funded by TV licences similar to BBC in UK). There was a lot of looting in KZN and Gauteng provinces recently.
As i look across the street I can see one of my neighbours properties is protected by "Ubuntu Security".
