Just a guess, but it sounds like something is failing. The hard drive maybe?

Does it boot up at all?

Ya it boots, but it is interesting you should mention hard drive as I was reading this article, https://www.quora.com/How-do-I-fix-an-H ... ng?share=1

I think one long beep indicates a memory problem, and the solution is to reset the memory modules. Be sure to unplug the machine and disconnect the battery first.

It could also be a stuck key on the keyboard. The Tab key on my Compaq laptop would get stuck from time to time, and even though it was not a single long beep it was continuous beep. Drove me nuts.

Please see HP Notebook PCs - Computer beeps or a light blinks during startup.

Moving the topic because this is a hardware issue and not an issue with Sound on Linux Mint.

"One Long Beep"

Sounds like a bad thriller/horror movie/book.
