should motherboards and CPU combo's be added to the hardware section?
ive been having some trouble with both windows 10 and linux mint on 2 systems
for linux mint ( ubuntu base or debian doesnt appear to matter ) it appears to mainly revolve around gaming - steam, epic, bottles and updates
for windows 10 MBR vs GPT installs....
I have no idea why BUT
for Windows 10
- ASUS Prime B450m-k with a Ryzen 5 3400G seems to only function properly with windows 10 if installed in MBR with legacy boot options
- ASUS Prime B450 m-a with a Ryzen 5 3600 + RX570 graphics card seems to only function properly with windows 10 if installed in MBR with legacy boot options
in both cases you can still use GPT drives for storage.
however if you try to install using GPT mode and secure boot, blah blah (even with fully updated BIOS ) it blue screens all the time..... sometimes at the log-in screen, sometimes while doing something, sometimes just overnight and of course sometimes when updating....
its taken 2 years to get a functioning win 10 install on both of these systems, im going to make them dual boot soon.
( i had been running linux mint on them for the last 2 years, but kids are sick of games randomly stop working )
1 system has a 500 nvme drive + 2TB HDD the other has a 500gig SSD + 2TB HDD, but both have 16gig 2600mhz ram
all health checks claim ram and drives are perfectly fine
should motherboards and CPU combo's be added to the hardware section?
