Public Announcement --- Hunting Dogs are running free

Post by AZgl1800 »

(Copied from a Game Warden)

PSA: Just a friendly reminder that coon , deer, rabbit , season and squirrel season are open!!!

There will be hounds showing up everywhere..
Owners will be happy to come get their dogs if you call them..

These dogs have homes.. they are fed...
They can look skinny after a couple days of running lost without food..

Yes, it can happen that fast..
Help them get home where they can be fed...

DO NOT REMOVE THEIR COLLARS! IT IS A FELONY!
That funny looking collar is a tracking collar.. Not a shock collar...

This means someone is looking for them!
This is what these dogs look forward to..

(no, you can not force a dog to hunt.. They do that because they want to).

You are not saving a dog or rescuing one if you take one and try to rehome it..

You're stealing someone's dog. Which is also a felony.

Some of these dogs will appear shy or timid...
That's because you aren't their owner, not necessarily because the dog has been abused...

Most of the time this is from not being socialized with people.

I know everyone has good intentions, but a little information to help everyone make the right decision might save some heartache for everyone

No way. It's not relevant in my part of the world.
Maybe this is better shared on a national medium, not on a worldwide one. It's irrelevant to most people in the world.

Everywhere? Uncontrolled dogs that show up here are liable to be shot without warning by the farmer. The dog's owner can also be sued by the farmer for any losses he incurs.

Uncontrolled dogs aren't always a problem and if the farmer doesn't have some evidence of 'sheep worrying' etc, then they can be in trouble.

Any of these dogs being specifically referred to in AZgl1800's post who somehow manage to show up in the UK (or the Netherlands) should be treated with considerable respect because that's an awful lot of water they had to walk on to get there.

Just saying.

Does the owner get fined for not picking up the poo?

That depends upon the environment in which your dog is, and where you live.

Literally.

here in Rural Farm Land, our neighbors are welcome.

across the street, inside the sign that says "city limits", if it is OFF a leash, it will be hauled to the Dog Pound and put to sleep.

but our whole area is Rural and we all pretty much get along, and the warning is just to remind the folks with Shotguns looking for Grouse, that pepper hide you see, might not be a bird.

I realize that a lot of countries do not agree with the sentiment in our part of the world, but most of the West Side of the Pond does

That's why idiots have to be licenced to own guns here.
