First of all, I would like to thank all vets for the service they put in. Secondly, I'm not a vet myself but my brother is currently a avionics and weapons engineer with the Netherlands Airforce and has served in Afganisthan.

Unfortunatly he is not yet a Linux user but I'm working on that

Welcome anyhow.

I served with some Dutch soldiers in the Sinai as part of a non-UN peace keeping mission. There were 11 nations involved.

I would like to say Thank you to all, and I will remember on this day, at this hour, at this place..........

God of our fathers, known of old—
Lord of our far-flung battle line—
Beneath whose awful hand we hold
Dominion over palm and pine—
Lord God of Hosts, be with us yet,
Lest we forget—lest we forget!

The tumult and the shouting dies—
The Captains and the Kings depart—
Still stands Thine ancient sacrifice,
An humble and a contrite heart.
Lord God of Hosts, be with us yet,
Lest we forget—lest we forget!

Far-called our navies melt away—
On dune and headland sinks the fire—
Lo, all our pomp of yesterday
Is one with Nineveh and Tyre!
Judge of the Nations, spare us yet,
Lest we forget—lest we forget!

If, drunk with sight of power, we loose
Wild tongues that have not Thee in awe—
Such boastings as the Gentiles use,
Or lesser breeds without the Law—
Lord God of Hosts, be with us yet,
Lest we forget—lest we forget!

For heathen heart that puts her trust
In reeking tube and iron shard—
All valiant dust that builds on dust,
And guarding calls not Thee to guard.
For frantic boast and foolish word,
Thy Mercy on Thy People, Lord!
Amen.

Way to young for Vietnam, but I spent 4 years in the Marine Corps. (95-99) Air Wing, MALS-31 in Beaufort S.C., miss that place, used to go over to Parris Island on weekends with buddies and run through the Confidence Course a few times.

Probably the closest I managed to get to danger was while deployed on the USS Enterprise in Dec. 98, we spent a few days unloading on Iraq. After tearing up all the cartilage in my left knee, and a surgery later they decided I deserved a vacation. But you know what? I'd do it all over again if I had the chance.

Tried to talk them into letting me back in after 9/11, no luck though, said if I couldn't run, I couldn't climb sand dunes :-(

On this Veteran's Day, may God bless all who have served this great nation in both times of war and times of peace.
