My dv6000 even runs Compiz smoothly, nvidia go 7150M.
Everything is supported, wireless was just installed from the hardware drivers tool when connected to wired internet.

Gateway M-6846 (copied everything below from the Gateway website)

Processor Intel® Core™ 2 Duo processor T5550. 2 MB L2 Cache | 1.83 GHz | 667 MHz FSB
Chipset Intel® GM965
Display panel 15.4-inch Ultrabright™ WXGA TFT display (1280 × 800)
Memory 4096 MB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM (2 × 2048) Operates at 667 MHz
Video controller Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator X3100
Webcam 1.3 Megapixel
Audio High definition audio - 2 channel
Hard drive 320 GB 5400 RPM SATA hard drive
Optical drive 8X Multi-Format Dual Layer DVDRW with DVD-RAM with Labelflash™
Modem Integrated V.92 56K modem
Network 10/100 Ethernet LAN
Wireless Intel 3948ABG
Memory card reader 5-in-1
Interfaces

* Three - USB 2.0 ports
* One - VGA port
* RJ-11 port
* RJ-45 port
* Headphone/SPDIF Audio Out jack
* Microphone jack

Pointing device Touchpad with vertical scroll zone
Expansion slot Expresscard® Type 54

I have used this laptop with various distros, including Mint 5 and Mint 6. Everything works out of the box as it should very well. I have not tried the 56k modem though as I have no need for it. My only complaint is that when Compiz is enabled, I am unable to log back in if I log out; it requires a restart. For whatever reason, this has been fixed in Jaunty, which I am sure will not be an issue with Gloria.

Add another Acer to the picture. My Acer Aspire 5570Z took to Mint no problem. I had to figure out where to activate the wireless, once I did, the rest was great!

Mint 6 KDE worked out-of-the-box on my IBM A31p (P4 2.0, 1gb ram,fire-gl). Dual boots with XP, dual HD's (both with swap). Compiz transparent cube works flawlessly with either wireless mouse or the famous trackball (middle button on kbd). Haven't played with the quick-link buttons on the kbd yet, but will edit here when I do.

Love that Mint! :D

regards, Richard

dell inspiron 1525 with intel gm965/gl960 video and broadcom bcm4312 wifi working mostly out of the box with gloria. install automatically activated the broadcom proprietory driver. however, with google earth, when one zooms in close (what you normally want to do to see the streets in detail), google earth just shows blank. for a higher elevation, one can see the streets but there's a hazy layer over it.

edit: sound kinda works but volume is very low

I have a Dell Inspiron 1545 (specs as below), which works as a charm with Gloria, no tinkering required. I even have wireless connection now, thanks to a careless neighbour! :mrgreen: (Coming to think of it, the webcam hasn't reported for duty yet, not that I need it though...)

Intel Core 2 Duo P8600 (2,40GHz, 1066MHz, 3MB)
15,6" widescreen WXGA WLED
integrated 1,3Mpixel webcam
4GB RAM (2x 2048MB 800MHz DDR2 Dual Channel)
320GB Serial ATA 5400rpm hard drive
8x DVD +/-RW drive
Intel integrated GMA 4500MHD graphics card
Dell Wireless 1397 (802.11 b/g) Mini Card

@oneearth: I had the same issue with Google Earth, but I switched off Atmosphere to get rid of the haze. Panoramio and Wikipedia facts didn't show up well, so I had to switch them off too.

I didn't see it searching this list, so:

Inspiron 1420n (shipped with Ubuntu 7.04 x86, modified slightly by Dell)
Core 2 Duo T7300 (2GHz)
2GB DDR-667
320GB WD Caviar Black (7200 RPM, 16MB buffer)
Intel GMA 965 (Santa Rosa/X3100 chipset)
1440x900 native resolution

Until I enabled Compiz, I had a little bit of graphical noise when scrolling through a help file. Compiz worked out of the box, however, and everything has been just fine.

EnpowerEN660 aka MSI Notebook PR600 Ver 1.000
4088 Megabytes Installed Memory
T7100 1.80 gz Intel Core 2 Duo
Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset

This computer was purchased at PC Club about six months before the chain closed down. It was marketed as an Enpower laptop and is manufactured by MSI.

MSI sells the same computer as the MSI-600. I have never personally seen any MSI computer for sale anywhere. I know they are available online.

I was running Linux Mint "Gloria" 64 bit in a dual-boot with Windows 7 RC. Main HD crashed.

Running Mint 7 64 on the backup HD.

Toshiba Satellite A215-S4697

AMD Turion 64
2.5 Gb Memory
Ati integrated video card
Atheros Wireless

Display and video are deficient (some apparent interference, reduced but not removed by disabling compiz completely... I don't need it anyway) but this seems to be a problem of the PC not the OS since I have issues with Windows as well.

Mint Gloria x86_64 (2.6.28-11) runs very well on:

HP Pavillion dv6799eg Special Edition
Intel T8100 (2.1GHz)
Intel ICH8 chipset
nVidia GeForce 8400M GS (with proprietary driver)

This notebook is a charme, totally opposite of my desktop system and ATI HD3850 graphics ... :x

Acer Aspire 3680-2633: As of Gloria everything seems to work - there's even a driver for the Winmodem (though I haven't tested that and probably never will). Compositing works flawlessly with UXA too - the infamous DRI window bug is gone.

Will Gloria 64 bit work in an Atom processor Netbook ? like Toshiba mini NB200 or Lenovo Ideapad S12 ? or Gloria 32 bit needs to be used ?

Does it have a 64 bit processor? It can't run 64 bit without one (ie. amd64)

Antivirus or defragging?
