I will have to come back and edit this post and add more info when I can get it, but here goes:

Thinkpad R51 1.5 Ghz Pent M 512 ramand I believe it has the intel wireless card built in. Has Cdrw/dvd player.

So far, Celena loads sweetly on it, runs with minimal to no issues. wireless works to my wep encrypted airport extreme base station, burns CD's, plays CD's, and plays DVD's, I had problem in playback when I had serious Robert Fripp music loaded on the HD and it stuttered a bit so maybe ram or some other issue but no issue when I played it off the CD, Internet radio works, and also video from internet seems to work too. did not hook it up to any printers yet or any of my Lacie 1/2 terabyte d2 hard drives via firewire. Mouse worked, track pad works too and not wild and anarchic like other times with ubuntu on another laptop or two. I do have the double click on the trackpad enabled and could not get that shut off. My 1 attempt with help from someone here ended up crashing mint and i had to reinstall and retweak which I just finished after a few days about a few minutes ago...so I am leaving things as is. goofed up the Xorg stuff or whatever...

Screwed around with Beryl but could never get the cube to appear. I decided against Beryl. As long as this works as good as it does, I am fine with it.

Hope this helps.

Basically a very sweet experience with Mint and Celena!!!

oh yes, suspend and hibernate also work. Volume buttons work.

Mint works almost like a charm on my laptop. I have a
Fujitsu Siemens Amilo PRO v2000. The internal wireless-card was broken many years ago, it's physically borked, so I use a usb-dongle for wireless.

What works: Almost everything.

What does not work: Suspend / Hibernate. After waking up, the screen gets scrambled, and it seems that nothing can fix it. Forced reboot is the only thing I can do. I'we tried to update dbus and kernel and various work-arounds, but it will not work at all.

The additional buttons on the side of the laptop does not work either, but I never use them anyway.

Sup?

Cassandra XFCE on Gateway MX8530.

1.73ghz Pentium M
1GB ram
17" widescreen
ATI x700 (ugh!)
IPW2200 built-in wireless
80 GB hd
Dual layer DVD+-rw

I am VERY glad to say that Mint is the ONLY Distro I have found that will run 3-D effects (Beryl or otherwise) and the ipw2200 simultaneously (actually, so will Sabayon, but I'm a 'buntu' kind of guy.)

I have lots of issues with the ATI x700. - Mint fired up with Beryl configured properly!! A first!

No Mandriva based distro will let me use the ipw2200 without firmware tom-foolery and what-not. - Mint+WICD= Wooooo-Hooooo!!!!!!!!

Everything worked great out of the box.

Excellent job!!!!!!

Try this ... this is from an Ubuntu 7.04 installation but it should work on Mint too:

/boot/grub/menu.lst:
1. Add the parameter pci=usepirqmask to your boot options
2. make sure the resume=/dev/sdXXX option points to the right partition and is even mentioned in your boot options.

/etc/default/acpi-support:
Check these parameters:
ACPI_SLEEP=true
ACPI_HIBERNATE=true
SAVE_VBE_STATE=true
POST_VIDEO=false
SAVE_VIDEO_PCI_STATE=false
USE_DPMS=false
HIBERNATE_MODE=platform
ENABLE_LAPTOP_MODE=true

With these parameters modified like that standby + hibernate + resume works tip top on my Fujitsu-Siemens LifeBook C1410 .... I can imagine that these options could work too on your's.

My 17" PackardBell Easynote 3340 runs Cassandra out of the box, except for the Realtek 8180 wifi card (replaced with a 8€-on-ebay Atheros one, just fine) and for the hibernate feature. The Ati 200M Radeon Xpress video card partially supports 3d acceleration, so I never got Beryl (or similar) working, but I can live without that.
My 12" CDC 6034DL (a.k.a. Uniwill X20II) laptop runs Celena perfectly out of the box (and Beryl too); I'm just not sure if hibernation works.
In both cases I never tested the winmodem, but should work on the second one.

Dell D600

Post by Perpetual »

Celena and Daryna both work out of the box on my Dell D600 laptop.

Dell Latitude D600
Off lease, 2 years old
Pentium M Dothan, 1.6GHZ
512 Ram
ATI Radeon Mobility 9200

All function keys work, hybernate works, have never tried suspend, compiz-fusion works, have not tried bluetooth, wireless works.

All works properly on my sony vaio pcg-z1sp with Elyssa except the suspend. After suspend is not possible wake up the notebook. Only hard reset helps. As Application Google Earth crash.

Advent 9117 17in Intel Core 2 Duo 1.46Ghz 1.5GB RAM 120GB HD wifi & SD Card reader
Can be bought here : http://www.pcworld.co.uk
Linux Mint 4.0 Daryna

Wifi works as does the SD card reader.

EDIT:

I also forgot to mention that the Advent 7203 15.4in Laptop from the same supplier also works perfectly with Linux Mint 4.0 Daryna.

EDIT2: Mint 5 works perfectly on both machines and with Compiz too !!

Mike.

I have a 20in iMac (Intel Core 2 Duo model) on which I run OS X and Linux Mint, and many other Linux Distro's !

The best way of doing this is to purchase Parallels, http://www.parallels.com/ ... then you can run Linux or Windows in a VirtualMachine under OS X.
You can also run the VirtualMachine full screen if you want.

Linux runs just fine by the way !

Hope this helps.

Uhh, uses broadcom, so you know, some difficulties there.

Also, this thread should be edited so on the first post, it lists all the working ones, issues included.

HP dv6000 doing great with Elyssa. Even the wireless and the pre-installed webcam worked right out of the box. There was a small problem with the graphics, but this was easily solved in Envy.

HP Pavilion DV5046EA.
Apart for a couple of the function keys everything works out of the box in Daryna.
Just loaded Elyssa again everything appears to function as it should.

Linux Mint 4.0 Daryna on a HP nx6125 works fine upto 1024x768 res..
Normal problems associated with Broadcom wifi ... however it does work.
