Mozilla details plans to kill Firefox 3.5

Post by richnbernie »

I still use 3.0.17 and mint 7 as 3.5 takes as much as sixty seconds for certain URL's. I suspect FF is looking for cookies and I kill all cookies when I close FF.
I do not allow FF to do auto updates so not sure how this will affect me.

I wonder if this will affect Linux users?

No, since Firefox updates in Ubuntu/Mint are distributed through the repositories, so you will not get auto-updated unless you choose to update FF yourself. But the whole point is moot anyways, since Mint 7 (i.e. Ubuntu 9.04) is already an obsolete and unsupported release, and you won't receive any further security updates and the like.

Yes I know it is not supported anymore but not an issue. Everything works fine. Yeah, the techies will no agree with that.
In my laptop I was given, I have Mint 7 with no updates at all running just fine. Never did any updates to see what would happen and Mint runs just fine. I keep no personal data on my PC's and my real name and address is no where in the PC. My email addresses have very good security and Spam control. Firewall for my Internet router.

Well, nobody's forcing you to upgrade, so you're happy with Mint 7 and FF 3.5, by all means stick with what you like.
