No CD-RW, 52x CD drive no DVD, and the BIOS doesn't do USB booting.
Get an old Debian floppy image.

I've decided to buy a new Netbook (mini-laptop)

Either an Acer Aspire One or a HP Mini Netbook . . . the specs are fairly similar, and both are stated to work well with Linux.
Specs for both include 10" monitor with 1 Gb of RAM and 160 Gb hard-drive.

Any comments or concerns about either Netbook, or Netbooks , in general?

But, don't "hi-jack" this topic .... send me a PM better.

I hope you can... I'm about to fall asleep. Put a crapload of caffeine in it plz. ;)
About the Acers, I got an Aspire (from ~2007), and... Meh. I've had better. I guess it might have something to do with Vista running on it.

Neato! Mint sure is growing fast! I'm happy with #! though, Mint is a bit too slow and bloated for my tastes.

Looks like LMDE is playing hard to get
I had to try three times to get it. First it was a bad DVD. Then my bad Hard Disk cracking up.
I finally changed disks. That did it. :D
Well my fellow LMDebians, it was worth all the trouble. :)

It's also nice to see some good old friends here. :D
Let's see if Kenetics, our official bartender, will show up. :)

At the moment, here's a round of Mint Julep cocktails for everybody.
And Hooray to Clem, for he's a jolly good fellow and nobody can deny it.

Hip, Hip!
Bottoms up!

If not give this a try:

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install mintinstall synaptic
P.S. If you're in the "super user" terminal you don't need sudo

EDIT: npap try this when you get back online..

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install -f
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
Here is the terminal output. Ikey
No luck yet.
I'm also having a poor internet connection these last few days.
