How did you coin your screen name

Post by sunewbie » Sun Dec 04, 2011 4:26 am

I am a relatively new to forum culture, and I often find interesting and unique screen names.

How did you coin your screen name, what's your story :?:

Initially, I was was about to sign-in with my original name, but at that time, I did not found anyone using their real name, not even mods. So I began to coin my screen name.

My Name starts from letter 'S' and Surname (Last name) from Letter 'U'. 'U' coincidently also stands for Ubuntu, my first Linux Distro.

Hence my screen name 'sunewbie'.

After watching other screen names, I thought, I could have coined a better screen name, if allowed to change, I would settle with White Lotus :)

Hope she doesn't mind it :)

AFAIK, if you beat your cat, she might immediately bite, not the case with a dog. A dog will never bark or bite his / her owner.

^LMAO WhatUsernameIsFree? ... Can definitely sympathize.

Mine ... mainly cuz BiggydaddylongstrokeLinuxmaster was either already taken or too long ... dang it ! D:

Messing round, LM was 1st real stab into gnu/nix after quite awhile of being a sidelines fan, almost immediately borked it. Then made brief jump to buntu 10.10, after hearing how ubuntu IS LINUX, was horrified, at the dumb layout of it, within a couple hours removed buntu and had reinstalled LM 10 to give it another go. Next time round, things went mucho better. Though still managed to bork Mint 10 a couple dozen times learning how to tweak it and experimenting with stuff.

Ya know ... someone warned me when I first joined the Mint forums. What are ya gonna do a couple years from now and ya still have that username ? Didn't think I'd stick around very long, now I have 1400+ posts and am still username newb, shrugs. Though sheesh, it's true anyway. Trying to learn all things gnu/nix is either futile or a never ending process. ;)

The idea that Bill Gates has appeared like a knight in shining armour to lead all customers out of a mire of technological chaos neatly ignores the fact that it was he who, by peddling second-rate technology, led them into it in the first place.

Tasyo was a character in this Philippine novel. I've been using this moniker online for more than 6 years, starting from Yahoo Chat.

A packet of imported tobacco. I was joining a community and decided to alter my online persona, needed a user name and couldn't think of one - looked down and there it was, right on the government health warning "Roken is dodelyjk" (or something like that, my Dutch/Norweigian isn't too good). So now you know, I am dangerous :)

My previous user name which is still in use round and about some forums is D-Dan. I got that off a Desperate Dan coffee mug. Same scenario, different prop.

Well, you know the herp derp meme? at First I was going to name myself Derpy cause I am such a klutz but then I relized that people will think that I stole the name from that Derpy Hooves character from My Little Pony. So I figured since they already have the derp, why not add the herp? So Herpy was born!

I drove big trucks for a few years. Trucks ride on highways, so the 'hiway' part. I live in Indiana, so the 'in' part. Added together gets you inhiway. I used gahiway when I lived in Georgia. I never was very good at making up screen names. lol
