See signature.

Desktop = dual boot Mac OS X (10.6 Snow Leopard) LM 12 main edition 64 bit w/Cinnamon

Laptop = LM 12 main edition 32 bit w/ Cinnamon

I've used other OS and distros over the years, but plan to stick with what I have for the time being. 8)

Good random question. I was really only running windows since like win 3.1 etc etc. I got into osx about 7-10 months ago. I also started my CIS 315 unix/linux class where we use fedora 13. This class was really my first introduction to linux/unix. I had a unix class way back in 99-00 but didnt really take it seriously and it was out of high school so I didnt pay attention as much as I do now. I've been messing with fedora 16 and mint 12 for a little bit and I like them both. To answer the question I

Dual Boot Windows7/Linux Fedora 16 Gnonme on pc
Dual Boot Windows 7/Mint 12 Gnome
OSX Lion
and OSX Snow Leopard 5

I had mint on the mbp but decided to take it off because I have to fix my efi partition sometime or will probably just wait till osx mountain lion comes out then do a clean install of that. It seems like the mbps have a few more issues then running an intel based machine, then again the mbp is an i5, but the wireless didint work for me right out the box like it did on my vaio with mint 12 and fedora 16. I didnt bother to try fedora 16 on the mbp. I might put linux back on the mbp one of these days but I think with everything I'm using now I'm good and with wanting to learn osx, mint12 and beyond, and Fedora 16 and beyond I am pretty occupied with those at the moment.

I run:
Mint 12 Cinnamon and Windows 7 on my new laptop. I'm gonna install Solus OS the final (when it comes out) on an external drive and see how that is.
And Windows XP on a very old Windows Desktop. It was my sisters, but she was done with it so I took it. I'm going to install Mint 13 LXDE, or maybe Lubuntu 12.04 or Mint 12 LXDE if I get impatient.

I have Windows XP on a SATA drive (the used computer came with that), and Mint 12 KDE, Quelitu, and several Puppy versions in frugal install on a smaller IDE HD. Then I have CentOS on a USB. I guess I'm just a junkie. I do like this Mint, however; I have been playing with it for several days with no problems at all.

Mint 10 and Freedos 1.1, I used to have windows xp, but have removed it, once I started using Linux Mint, I found that I never used windows anymore, and couldn't see any reason to keep it.

I'm currently running Windows Vista, and Linux Mint Debian Gnome. I have a feeling my hard drive is on it's last leg (PC from 2007), I've noticed a louder grinding noise than usual the past couple of days. Once this HD crashes, and I replace it, I'll run LMDE exclusively for awhile.

Desktop: LMDE 64, SP3
My laptop (now over 6 years old; flies!): LMDE SP3
Netbook: LMDE Xfce
My wife's laptop: Windows 7, LMDE SP3 My wife is "not a compouter person" but now hates Windows & loves Mint.

I've been using Mint since #5 & I read this forum most days. I have learned more about Linux in general here than anywhere else. You'll see I'm a real LMDE fan. It's great. Reading the posts here, I don't understand why LMDE is still described as "not for newbs or grandparents" "not straightforward" etc. With SP3 everyting seems to work perfectly for me - maybe I'm just lucky. It seems snappier than the main edition on my older laptop. Mind you, the last main edition I had on here was #9 LTS. In comparison, I must say Gnome 3 looks interesting but counter-inutuiive. Cinnamon seems an ongoing project (with kudos for those doing the hard work! ) It seems to have a great deal of potential, but I would feel a bit wary of recommending Mint 12 to a linux newb. Also worried about how LMDE SP4, when it comes, might behave on my older hardware. Not that I won't give it a go.

But I am not complaining! I'm very happy. Thanks as ever to Clem & the team, you guys are awesome!

Main Desktop PC (64bit) - Currently out of action. Something, I'm not entirely sure what, has gone wrong with it (I think a power cut killed my motherboard). However, when I get it fixed it'll be exclusively a Mint machine (most likely, 64bit version of the upcoming Mint 13 LTS or LMDE once Cinnamon hits the repos) - although, given the hard-drive capacity I doubt it'll stay a single OS machine for long. The new mix of Fusion could well be a contender to go on here too.

Mini-PC (64bit) - was going to be custom case project which only ran Mint, although the death of my main tower caused plans to change. Now, it's my MS box running Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit.

Netbook (32bit) - dual boots Crunchbang Statler w/Backports enabled (Feb 2012 release) & Mint 12 Lisa w/Cinnamon. Also, this machine is the one I use to tinker with & test out various distro's.

Ancient laptop (32bit) - Crunchbang Statler (about to upgrade to the recent February release)

Vaio laptop (32bit (I think)) - was running Mint 10 KDE, until the power input jack shorted. Should probably just take it to a shop & get it fixed, it's a very nice laptop.......

I'm dual-booting WinXP and LM 9 Fluxbox on both of my laptops. I've been trying out SolusOS with Gnome 2, and while I like it a lot, the Fluxbox edition of LM 9 may have to be pried from my cold, dead hands. (Although, after dropping Fluxbox on SolusOS, it was idling at a ridiculous 63 mb of ram...hmmm, what to do...?)

Thank you Vincent for your support
Hey...i've been using various versions of mint for a number of years (mint 8 through 12) and also earlier versions of ubuntu (in between...lol) but after trying
ubuntu 11.10 and getting use to unity (and liking it) that is what i am currently on....prior to my latest i was using mint 12 with the cinnamon desktop...

But yes, hard as some of you may find to believe... there are many of us who actually LIKE unity

My main OS on my laptop is LMDE 64 bit with an Openbox/GNOME2 desktop that i've carefully tweaked the last few months. It works perfectly for me. I'm following the future of Cinnamon, but for now i love the lightness of Openbox.

The second OS is Win7 64 bit (it came installed on the laptop. it could just as easily be WinXP) which i only use to sync my iPod with iTunes. As soon as i can decently hook up my ipod in LMDE and sync it, i'll be the first one to ditch Windows altogether.

I recently handed over a desktop computer with WinXP to my mom because i don't game anymore.

I agree with barryp. I'm cautious about the performance effects of LMDE UP4 and Cinnamon. But i have to admit the future for LMDE (at least for me) looks very promising.

I am running Linux Mint 12 with Cinnamon 1.4 on my laptop and Windows 7 on my desktop computer. The only reason I have Windows 7 running is the need to watch Netflix and protected Blu Rays. If that wasn't the case I would be running Linux on there as well. Shame because its a damn powerful machine.
