Maya Cinnamon 64bit and nVidia

Post by mithos » Sat Jul 07, 2012 2:04 pm

Just installed Maya 64bit on my machine with nVidia 9600 GT. Cinnamon (effects, etc.) worked fine with nouveau drivers. I installed the non-free drivers from the 'additional drivers' menu option, and rebooted. Now I have 2 issues:

1) The login screen text is so small that it's unreadable, but the icons are correctly sized
2) After login I always end up in fallback mode. I've used gnome 3 before, so I tried running `cinnamon --replace` (as a guess) and cinnamon starts, but response becomes laggy and the entire thing froze when I opened firefox.

Does anyone know what's going on/how to stop this?

Additional, tried the other driver I can get in jockey-gtk. Same issue.
Tried the driver off the nVidia website. X completely falls down dead and I end up in a terminal. re-installing :|
