Hey,
ive got a Asus EeePc Netbook and like to switch on an extern Monitor via VGA on Linux Mint 13.
But, there is no possibility to choose the monitor. In my "advice" (? - sorry, ive got the german version) i only have the default monitor of the netbook.
Do you have any idea what to do. Or what do you need further information?

I just read a little bit and tried
xrandr
Result:
xrandr: Failed to get size of gamma for output default
Screen 0: minimum 800 x 600, current 800 x 600, maximum 800 x 600
default connected 800x600+0+0 0mm x 0mm
800x600 61.0*
