My graphic card is not listed in additional drivers tab in software sources. do i need to install a driver for that? because my laptop fan is running very high and eating a lot of battery. i searched internet a lot for solving this and found that it may be graphic card driver.
i also installed jupiter but with no success so far in reducing cpu fan speed.please give suggestion for battery saving also.

Read Mint14 release note..
relevant one is on your ATI 4xxxx series, which is not supported with Mint14's xorg version.
so, you can follow the link in code tag below, to downgrade xorg version and then install legacy fglrx.
or you can go back to Mint13, or some other distros that supports legacy ATI card.

AMD Radeon HD 2xxx-4xxx series card
The ATI drivers for these cards are now available in a separate branch called legacy series. Unfortunately these legacy drivers (version 12.6) have not been updated to work with Xorg 1.13.
If you own one of these cards you can either:
Use the default Open Source drivers which come with Linux Mint
Downgrade Xorg and install the Legacy ATI drivers as explained at http://www.ubuntuvibes.com/2012/10/how-to-install-amd-catalyst-legacy.html
