1440x990 seems impossible to attain on KDE

Post by jasonwatkins »

I have an Nvidia 7300LE graphics cards and have tried Mandriva, Kubuntu and Linux Mint KDE and nothing works.

if i use a non-kde version then i can get 1440x990 with absolutely no problems whatsoever.

the x-server always offers me the maximum resolution of 1360x768

for what it's worth, when I tried mandriva, my xorg.conf file was this

Code: Select all

Section "Monitor"
        Identifier "Configured Monitor"
        HorizSync 47
        VertRefresh 59

EndSection

Section "Screen"
        Identifier "Default Screen"
        Monitor "Configured Monitor"
        Device "Configured Video Device"
        DefaultDepth 24
        SubSection "Display"
        Depth 24
        Modes "1440x990_70"
        EndSubSection
EndSection

Section "Module"
        Load "glx"
EndSection

Section "Device"
        Identifier "Configured Video Device"
        Driver "nvidia"
        Option "NoLogo" "True"
EndSection
I really do want a KDE system but I'm just completely in the dark as to why i can't achieve it.

So am I
Anything else you know that's particular/peculiar?
I have not seen any reports on this before and it certainly deserves a solution, but I don't think I have the time right now - I'm lagging far behind with other obligations

Don't fix it if it ain't broken, don't break it if you can't fix it
