after spending a bunch of days trying to find a solution in chat forums, likns, tutorials etc, i decided that it would be more helpfull to write here. The reason i fresh installed Mint is because i heard there were more stable and had a bigger coummunity than other destros. I was on Ubuntu 14.04 64-Bit enviroment and i had my monitor working well for months now till 4 days ago i pressed the suspend option and when i turned the laptop on again i got a black screen with no text and i couldnt do a thing (ctrl+alt+F2 or else didnt work) so i pressed the turn off/on button for a force shutdown. When i turned on the laptop and tried to connect it with the monitor (settings/display/detect screen/turn off laptops screen and turn on the monitor) after pressing apply i got the following errors:
1st error i got :
GDBus.Error:org.gtk.GDBus.UnmappedGError.Quark._gnome_2drr_2derror_2dquark.Code4: none of the selected modes were compatible with the possible
modes:Trying modes for CRTC 690
Trying modes for CRTC 691
Trying modes for CRTC 63
Trying modes for CRTC 64
Trying modes for CRTC 65
Trying modes for CRTC 66
I closed the window and second error apears :
none of the selected modes were compatible with the possible modes:
Trying modes for CRTC 690
Trying modes for CRTC 691
Trying modes for CRTC 63
Trying modes for CRTC 64
Trying modes for CRTC 65
Trying modes for CRTC 66
after that i fresh installed linux mint but i was still getting the same error. I tried and installed various NVIDIA drivers till i had no GUI when i turned on the laptop a blue screen comes up with a text saying something like: The Xerver had a configuration problem, would you like to see the problem? i pressed ok and that a text came up with some configuration errors. (i have a pic of them but i dont know how to use the rimg brackets so i can insert the pic)
What i am using now:
Lenovo Thinkpad T430
Runs: Linux Mint 17.1 Cinnamon 64-bit
Graphics: Card-1: Intel 3rd Gen Core processor Graphics Controller
bus-ID: 00:02.0
Card-2: NVIDIA GF108M [NVS 5400M] bus-ID: 01:00.0
Display Server: X.Org 1.15.1 drivers: intel (unloaded: fbdev, vesa)
Resolution: 1366x768@60.0hz
GLX Renderer: Mesa DRI Intel Ivybridge Mobile
GLX Version: 3.0 Mesa 10.1.3 Direct Rendering: Yes
While both of my cards are beeing recognized(i have installed the proprietary drivers from drive manager (nvidia-331)) my laptop wont even detect the external monitor (Dell U2414H) connected with a Mini-Display Port/Display Port for any reason. It would just behave like nothing happens, not a sign or something would appear while i connect the screen to the laptop. Everything works perfectly apart from that. I tried to install Bublebee but the only thing it did was to switch on/off the NVIDIA card (witch i also could do through BIOS (Tested and worked) and mint could see it too so not that big a deal after all). The monitor works just fine , i have connected it with another Laptop (that runs Ubuntu) and would work like a charm. I also tried a live Ubuntu disk. With that it detects the monitor , the laptop screen turns off like it is trying to connect with the monitor but in the end it wont work(maybe cuz its a live disk i assume ).I have no clue what to do next! Im thinking of removing the Graphic Card if thats possible.. If somebody has an idea please let me know, it would be a great deal having that monitor work. Thanks in advance!!!
EDIT: pressing the command : glxinfo | grep "OpenGL renderer string" in terminal
it shows me : OpenGL renderer string: Mesa DRI Intel(R) Ivybridge Mobile
and pressing this one: prime-select query
it shows me :unknown
I still have some bublebee files although i uninstall them as was said here https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bumblebee#Installation
I assume its bublebees fault cuz it doesnt let me use the nvidia card. anybody any ideas how do i permanently remove/uninstall all bublebee files from my laptop?
Thanks in advance!!
Edit: Issue fixed by Two_Dogs!
