Nvidia Drivers - Cinnamon Crash <SOLVED>

Postby Bradley Singer » Sun Oct 15, 2017 12:26 am

I am trying to install the latest Nvidia Driver (387.12-0ubuntu0~gpu16.04.1), but each time I try to login in I am greeted with a "Cinnamon has crashed" error asking if I want to restart Cinnamon. Each time I try, Cinnamon crashes again.

I tried to install the Nvidia Driver via the Driver Manager. It seemed to install properly, but when I restart after installation the problem persists. Any ideas?

Thanks

I would try installing a newer kernel and see if that fixes the problem.

I updated to the newest Kernel and it immediately fixed the problem. I held off on upgrading because the Update Manager listed the Kernel update as a level 5 "dangerous" update. Thanks for your help!
