Hi all,
I have been trying to install LMDE 2 (latest ISO 2017) on my machine with a GTX 1070 GPU and H70 Chipset mobo without success. I have done extensive searches online and have tried many different methods, but all end with X not being able to boot. Could anyone please give me some advice? Thank you.

Re: LMDE2 and Nvidia drivers (no guides work)
Which guides have you been readng? Many LMDE users who are new to Linux don't seem to be aware that you can't use a lot of config solutions meant for Ubuntu based Mint. Ubuntu and Mint are both Debian based but they're different. And Debian is more restrictive.
I'd start with this ...
https://wiki.debian.org/NvidiaGraphicsDrivers
... and if you aren't aware of this already LMDE 2 is based on Debian Jessie.

Thank you man, I really appreciate it. I followed that guide and it worked perfectly. I don't know if you have the power, but someone should remove this: https://community.linuxmint.com/tutorial/view/331 - as it is the number 1 hit when searching for 'install nvidia lmde'. I think it might be sending a lot of people astray, including me originally.Hoser Rob wrote:Which guides have you been readng? Yeah but it is still the number one search result, not everyone would look at the date. Surely someone has the power to edit it.
