Upgrade to 18.2 on Intel graphics = external monitor unusable

Postby gmorehouse » Mon Oct 23, 2017 12:21 am

Hello, ever since upgrading to Mint 18.2 Sonya (Cinnamon), I've been unable to use an external monitor on my laptop's VGA port. When I attempt to set it up for non-mirroring, it will go into a mode where it's split (sort of) into quadrants with the taskbar misplaced, and be unusable. This was working fine before the upgrade. I'm not sure what to do next as I haven't had to deal with video failures this bad in a long time.

Code: Select all

$ sudo lshw -C video

Please start a terminal and post the output of this command:

Code: Select all

inxi -Fxz

Enclose the results in code tags. Note that F in -Fxz is an upper case F.
If your problem is fixed, please mark your thread as [SOLVED] by editing the title of the first message in the thread.
